State and define the S.I. unit of work.

The S.I. Unit of work is Joule. Work is the measure of energy transfer that takes place when an object is moved over a distance by an external force wherein at least some part of the force applied is in the direction of the displacement of the object.
1 joule of work is said to be done when a force of 1 Newton (N) displaces a body with a distance of 1 meter (1 m) in its own direction.
