Chhattisgarh CM Directs Officials to Encourage Admission in Govt. Schools; Check Details Here

The Chhattisgarh education department has written letters to various Collectors and District Educational Officers asking them to meet the parents and convince them to get their children admitted to public schools.

During the ongoing COVID crisis, many parents opted for dropping their students from private schools. In this light, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel drafted a letter to the officials to convince parents to admit their wards to government schools and not deprive them of education.

There were reports that students are leaving private schools for various reasons including the collection of fees. According to a survey conducted in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh about 41 students studying in private schools didn’t have access to online education, and 39% parents paid hiked fees in private schools.

The CM demanded that various details of the students exiting the private schools must be collected including names of students, addresses, contact details of parents, etc.

The letter also mentioned that schools must not focus on transfer certificates or mark sheets for the admission of such students to classes 1 to 10. For admission to class 11, their class 10 marks must be cross-checked.

“The process must be completed in 15 days and a report must be submitted to the state’s Directorate of Public Instruction”, the state public relations department official said.

Recently, Chhattisgarh is growing a Coronavirus hub and recorded the highest COVID transmission rate of 1.34. But, amidst these conditions, a survey in Chhattisgarh found that 95% of the poor class students received their mid-day meals through the scheme.
