Compartment Exams to be conducted Online, CBSE Guides Schools

In a recent order issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the examination controller asked the schools to carry out class IX and class XI compartmental exams in online and creative mode.

The circular reads "Schools may conduct online / offline / innovative tests and may decide to promote students on the basis of the test."

On May 13, 2020 the CBSE issued a notice stating that students of classes IX and XI who have not been able to attend certain subjects will be given the opportunity to clear the same.

It has been reiterated that this exemption is to be extended to all students, including those who have already had the opportunity to do so.

Approximately 4,550 students of classes XI and XI of the CBSE-affiliated government schools in Chandigarh have had a compartment.

With the announcement by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the closure of the schools until 31 July 2020, the UT Education Department is unsure about when and how to conduct the compartment exams.
