Delhi University Grants 10 Additional Marks for Degree Completion; Check Details Here

New Delhi: A senior official from Delhi University (DU) has announced that the students who have not cleared a single remaining paper and have used all available special chances to obtain their degree will be granted grace marks to facilitate passing.

According to the DU official, students will receive 10 additional points as grace marks to secure their degree. This provision applies exclusively to those students facing challenges in passing a single paper required for their DU Results and degree completion, the DU official said.

Who is Eligible to Avail the Grace Marks?

The arrangement will include the students whose degree completion was scheduled for 2021-22 and 2022-23, coinciding with the COVID-19 outbreak in India. Additionally, it applies to those who participated in the centenary chance, limited to four papers at all the DU Affiliated colleges

The approved proposal document by the Executive Council, the university's highest decision-making body, indicates that this provision will extend to MPhil students, in addition to those enrolled in all DU Courses, both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programs.

This decision aims to offer relief to students who faced challenges during the pandemic, such as difficulties in exam attendance due to remote learning, limited access to resources, health-related concerns, or those with degrees in limbo due to a single failed paper.

About the DU Committee

As per the approved proposal, the university will form a committee consisting of academic advisors, DU faculty members, and administrators to assess student requests for availing grace marks. Students must provide a valid reason for failing to pass a single paper or extending their degree completion period, with the committee evaluating the feasibility on a case-by-case basis.

The committee will also determine whether to organize a special chance examination for these students to facilitate the completion of their degrees.
