DU Admission 2023 Open for MA Hindu Studies, Chinese Studies, PG Diploma in Cyber Security & Law; Check Details Here

New Delhi: The University of Delhi has introduced a new M.A. program in Hindu Studies under the recently established Center for Hindu Studies, beginning in the academic session 2023-24. Admissions for this program have commenced.

Prof. Prerna Malhotra, the Joint Director of the Center, provided information about the admission process, highlighting that DU admission will be solely based on merit in the qualifying degree. 

Any individual holding a graduation degree in any discipline with a minimum qualifying score is eligible to apply for the program. To apply, interested candidates should register themselves at the official website @pg-merit.uod.ac.in. DU Registration for the M.A program is open from September 19, 2023, until September 30, 2023.

Simultaneously, the University has initiated the admission procedures for two additional postgraduate merit-based programs: a Post-graduate Diploma in Cyber Security and Law, and an M.A. in Chinese Studies.

DU MA Admission 2023: Highlights 

Prof. Prerna Malhotra highlighted that this program, the Master of Arts in Hindu Studies, is pioneering in nature. It incorporates an innovative feature, allowing students to select a minor course from various knowledge domains such as Computer Science, Data Analytics, Commerce, Political Science, and more. 

This aligns with the progressive principles outlined in the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), which promotes a multidisciplinary approach to knowledge dissemination, fostering innovation and a practical orientation in teaching, learning, and research.

The selected Minor subject will be specified on the Master's Degree, creating designations like M.A. in Hindu Studies with a Minor in Data Science and Analytics, Computer Science, Commerce, Political Science, etc. Upon successfully completing the MA Degree with the required credits in both the Major and Minor areas, students will become eligible to pursue advanced research and studies in Hindu Studies as well as their chosen Minor subject.

The M.A. in Hindu Studies, accompanied by a Minor, aims to offer students a blend of traditional knowledge concerning Hindu philosophy and a set of modern, career-relevant skills. 

This program seeks to strike a balance between imparting a profound understanding of the age-old Hindu ethos and addressing the aspirations of today's career-oriented individuals. Through its multidisciplinary approach, students are encouraged to explore the connections between Hindu Studies and various contemporary subjects.

This program represents a forward-thinking initiative by the University, geared towards nurturing a comprehensive and nuanced comprehension of Hindu thought and philosophy. It aims to bridge the gap between ancient Hindu philosophical perspectives and the contemporary employment landscape, drawing upon the strengths of the Bharatiya civilizational value system while embracing a multi-disciplinary approach, in accordance with the vision outlined in the NEP-2020.

Prof. Malhotra expressed that the University's innovative step, guided by the visionary leadership of Prof. Yogesh Singh, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, is grounded in the belief that the academic exploration of Hindu civilization, encompassing its history, literature, and philosophy, has often been overlooked within universities and research institutions. 

With the University Grants Commission's inclusion of Hindu Studies as a subject for the National Eligibility Test (NET), it has gained recognition as a knowledge domain warranting structured academic pursuits and career prospects in teaching, research, and intellectual endeavors. 

This development has provided significant impetus for the University to introduce such a program, as the institution remains dedicated to fostering academic excellence, pioneering teaching methods, and the integration of traditional Bharatiya values into higher education.
