DU OBE brings with it a host of problems; students and teachers address distress and disappointment

University of Delhi (DU) commenced its Open Book Examinations on 10th August upon receiving approval from the Supreme Court. 

Delhi University’s open book examinations or OBE had begun with a number of issues ranging from problems with registration to receiving the wrong question papers. This was also accompanied by numerous technical errors. Although the students complained about the problem they faced on the first day, it was not addressed by the university. 

Day 2 of the OBE also brought with it several new problems along with the ones from the previous day. The website was unresponsive and students were unable to submit the documents due to format and size of the file.

Several students who were able to submit their documents later received notifications from the university stating that their submission could not be completed. 

Along with students, teachers also expressed their disapproval and criticism towards the administrations for the lack of careful planning. 

According to students, the exam portal of DU had become unresponsive on Wednesday creating panic since the submission of answer sheets had to be uploaded and submitted before the given time.

To be on the safer side, this led to students sending their answer sheets to several officials to prove that they had submitted within the stipulated time. 

However, DU has announced that submission via exam portal, department mail and common email are all acceptable methods.
