Ramesh Pokriyal will initiate the ceremony for AICTE’s Lilavati Awards on November 17. The awards aim to give recognition and appreciation to institutes affiliated with AICTE for treating women students with equality and fairness.

These awards came into being due to the initiative and efforts of AICTE that sought to bridge the gender disparity between men and women in technical institutions. The announcement for the awards was made through the Twitter handle of the Ministry of Education.

Lilavati Awards to be Held Online

Unfortunately due to the current circumstances, the awards will be conducted through online mode. The event will start at 5 PM on November 17 and will be attended by people like the Secretary of Higher Education Amit Khare and the Chairman of AICTE, Professor Anil Shasrabudhe.

The theme of the Lilavati award is women empowerment and it is given across seven categories. These include literacy, women entrepreneurship, self-defence, women’s health, sanitation, hygiene, and legal awareness.

The penultimate goal of these awards is to create awareness regarding topics not given their due when it comes to women. The awards emphasize the solution to these problems- education and promote the solution using traditional Indian values.

Lilavati Awards: Streaming Platform Youtube

The award is given based on an evaluation made by a committee set up by the AICTE. The entries for the Lilavati Award are submitted from an institution or team to AICTE. The students or facilities from AICTE approved institutions can submit their entries too.

The entry submitted by the institute has to meet the eligibility criteria set out by the AICTE under the particular category. Eligible entries are then forwarded to a committee that is constituted by the members of AICTE. The entries who win the awards or secure up to the third rank under each category are given certificates by the AICTE.
