The Gujarat State Education Department has permitted the students to apply for the regular admissions in the professional colleges who qualified for the class 12 supplementary exams. This allowance has been introduced for the first time.
The Gujarat State Education Department decided to permit students for the regular admissions after receiving only a few registrations because of which over 52 percent of seats are vacant post the first round of admissions.
The registrations for the degree and diploma engineering college across the State began on October 19, 2020. Although, lower numbers of seats have been occupied for the degree courses across the State.

As per ACPC records, this year, only 30,060 students applied for the courses for which 50,928 engineering seats are available across 139 government grants-in-aid and self-financed institutes, including the Admission Council for Professional Programmes.
Rajul Gajjar, ACPC Member secretary, Principal of LD Engineering College, revealed that for the first time, students are allowed with supplementary results in class 12 board exams to register for the second round admissions.
He added that the students would have a chance to apply for the regular admission process. On the other hand, earlier students were only allowed to register for the remaining seats after the admission process ends.

Earlier, the students were only accepted after the admission process was completed. But now, regular admissions will now be recorded rather than filling up the left-out seats.
ACPC has assigned only 24,016 seats that were occupied in the first merit list from the total seats of 26,912. The proportion says that 52.83 percent of the seats will be occupied in the second round of admission which took place on October 16, 2020.
The ACPC office is estimating over 500 students with supplementary to apply for the second round of admission.
