The Ministry of Human Resource Development has launched four new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) in India. The new KVs will be KV SSB in Champawat, Uttarakhand; KV Railway in Dangoaposi, Jharkhand; KV Madhupuri in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh; and KV Sumerpur in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh.
With the introduction of these schools, the HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal noted that the number of KVs in the country has risen to 1,239.
He said, “I heartily congratulate all the students and parents benefitting from the new Kendriya Vidyalayas and hope that our Kendriya Vidyalayas will continue to spread the light of education in every corner of the country.”
Admission to the new KVs will be done according to the schedule for the academic year 2020-21. According to the KV Sangathan, “The Vidyalayas will start functioning from Class 1 to Class 5 during the academic year 2020-2021 and thereafter will grow consequently based on feasibility. Each class will start with a single section now.”
In 2019, almost 50 KVs were established under the civil and defence sectors. 800,000 candidates sought admission to KVs for 100,000 seats.
This year, the admission process for academic 2020-21 has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak in India, followed by the lockdown.
