IP University Courses: Offers MOOCs on Society and Media, Apply Before July 15

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) offers a 15-weeks online MOOCs to be launched through SWAYAM platform of Ministry of Human Resource Development.

IP University has begun the registration process, students have to apply on or before July 15, 2020. This free online course is for students whose education or study schedules have been severely affected by the lockdown.

Among the many Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) launched on the Swayam platform, Society and Media were among the top 5 courses. 

The course garnered 1200 enrollments from students of odd semesters of 2019. Based on demand and quality, this is one of the 42 courses selected for this year. 

Designed and coordinated by Dr Durgesh Tripathi, founding faculty, University School of Mass Communication (USMC), GGSIPU the course design is a joint effort of media academicians from the state and central universities of India. 

The National Testing Agency (NTA), will issue certificates for students who complete the course. For successful course completion, NTA will hold examinations for this 15 weeks course. 

As Dr Tripathi said, “ Students from various disciplines and subjects should enrol in the course to gain a better understanding of the role of media in our society as it has become an integral part of our lives and impacts all of us. 

The students should take advantage of the situation and enrol for the course to gain new perspectives on the functioning of the media especially when we are flooded with fake news and misinformation.”
