Jammu & Kashmir: Govt. Decides to Prepone Class 10, 12 Exams Considering Panchayat Elections

The government of J&K has decided to prepone the examination of std 10th and 12th due to the Panchayat elections that are likely to commence from the first week of December. 

While JKBOSE has not confirmed the rescheduled dates of examination yet. As per sources, the official notice of the dates will be declared only after the government decides a fixed date for the panchayat elections.

Earlier, the exams were to be held after 15th November, the chairperson of JKBOSE has informed that the exams were pushed until mid-November so that the students get enough time for preparation.

JK Officials Meeting: Important Highlights

Decisions were taken by a panel convened by the outgoing principal secretary school education department, Asgar Samoon, and included BOSE officials, deputy commissioners, and officers of the school education department.

After the meeting, one of the officials informed that the government has decided to prepone the examinations in light of the upcoming election.

The tentative date for the election that has been decided is the first week of December and may continue till February. 

A board official said that it would be hectic to reschedule the examinations and that there is no chance of delaying it further, nor can we prepone it (the exam) keeping in view the resentment of the students who are already stressed.

“If the exams are conducted as per the scheduled dates we will complete it by December 15,” the board official added.

Students and Parents Reaction on the Decision 

Students are distressed due to the sudden notice of preponement. Students said that they had already started preparing for the examination keeping in mind the dates that were informed earlier.

One of the 10th std students, Arifa mentioned, “But now, the government wants to prepone it for elections, which is completely unjustified. The government is deliberately putting students under stress by making such decisions,”.

Parents of the students also expressed their disappointment with the decision of the government. 

A parent of the class 12th student added, “My daughter has gone under depression after she came to know that the government has decided to prepone the exams. She is not ready to appear in exams now.”
