FT Masters in Management Rankings 2026 Released; IIM Bangalore Breaks Into Global Top 25

The Financial Times (FT) released the Masters in Management (MIM) 2026 rankings on September 7, 2026, on its official portal at rankings.ft.com. Fourteen Indian business schools, including seven Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), have featured in the global top 100 this year.

The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) leads the Indian contingent at the 21st position globally. It is the only Indian B-school to enter the world’s top 25 in this edition. SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai, follows at the 26th spot, while IIM Ahmedabad is placed 27th.

How Is the FT MIM Ranking Calculated?

The FT MIM ranking evaluates master’s in management programmes based on 19 criteria. Alumni feedback accounts for 56 percent of the total weight, while data submitted by the institutions accounts for the remaining 44 percent.

The assessment covers career outcomes after graduation and salary growth. It also measures value for money and international exposure. Factors such as student diversity, ESG focus, and sustainability initiatives are also considered.

IIM Bangalore Leads With Sharp Climb

IIM Bangalore has climbed seven places, moving from the 28th position in 2025 to the 21st position in 2026. The institute was ranked 41st in the 2024 edition.

The institute’s director credited the rise to curriculum benchmarking against global standards. Stronger career outcomes for graduates also contributed to the improved ranking.

IIM Bangalore Rank Movement

Global Top Three in FT MIM 2026

The University of St Gallen, Switzerland, has retained the top rank. Nova School of Business and Economics, Portugal, has secured the second position, while Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Antai College of Economics and Management, China, holds the third spot.
