New Delhi: The JEE Main 2024 has achieved a new milestone, by attracting a record-breaking 12.3 lakh aspirants for the January session. This has surpassed the combined registration numbers from the previous year (January and April) by nearly 68,000. The recent reports indicate a substantial increase of 3.7 lakh applicants compared to the first session in 2023.
There is an increase in female participation in the initial session of JEE Main 2024, along with a rise in registrations from the third gender. Maharashtra continues to lead among states, followed by Andhra Pradesh. Notably, there is a growing number of test-takers opting for English, whereas registrations in Hindi have declined.

Which State has the Highest JEE Main 2024 Registration?
Regarding the state-wise registrations, Maharashtra takes the lead with 1.6 lakh candidates, followed by Andhra Pradesh with 1.3 lakh and Telangana with 1.2 lakh applicants.
However, all three states have experienced a significant surge in candidate numbers compared to the 2023 exams. In the previous year, Maharashtra had 1.3 lakh registrations, Andhra Pradesh had 1 lakh, and Telangana had 95,000.

Gender-Wise JEE Main 2024 Registration Statistics
In terms of gender distribution, there is a marginal increase in female registrations for JEE Main, constituting over 33% of the total in JEE (Main) 2024, compared to 30.8% in 2023. Moreover, the engineering entrance exam witnessed the highest number of registrations from the third gender, totaling 19 applicants.

Regarding language preference, the count of test-takers in English has risen to 11 lakh, indicating sustained growth. However, the number of examinees choosing Hindi has decreased to approximately 40,000. Gujarati holds the third-highest number of registrations, reaching 16,731.
JEE Main is set to be conducted in 13 languages: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
When is the JEE Main 2024 Session 1 Exam?
The initial session of JEE Main 2024 is set to take place from January 24 to February 1. The deadline for making corrections in the JEE Main application form for the first session is today. This entrance exam is conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture/planning programs.
