Karnataka 2nd PUC Exam 2020: Lakhs of Students Turned Up Across 1000+ Centres
On June 18, 2020, the remaining English paper examination of Karnataka 2nd PUC 2020 was conducted in more than 1000 exam centres across the state.
Approximately 5.59 lakh students appeared for the 2nd year of Pre-University Course (PUC) exam on Thursday. All the exam centres maintained social distancing and proactive safety norms.
The English exam was scheduled to be held on March 23, 2020. It was later postponed due to COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent nationwide lockdown.
The Pre-University Education department had earlier issued all the standard measures for conducting examinations. This included sanitising examination halls and benches, number of students to be seated in one room, thermal screening and using masks and sanitisers.
Suresh Kumar, Karnataka State Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, paid a visit to some of the Bengaluru based schools to review the situation.
The exam centres found scores of students pouring in wearing masks and even gloves to protect themselves from the virus.
However, it has also been reported that several exam centres in the state kept away from all the social distancing norms. Teachers and staff repeatedly huddled under tin sheds when there was a heavy downpour.
Meanwhile, Karnataka has 7,734 COVID-19 cases with 4,804 patients having been cured and 2,828 active cases. Additionally, 102 cases of lethal infection were also reported.
