Karnataka’s 2nd PUC English Exam 2020: Helpline Launched for Outstation Students
PUE (Pre-University Education) Department of the Karnataka government has launched a dedicated helpline number for outstation students. This helpline is for students who are due to appear for the English paper of 2nd PUC Exam 2020 that was postponed for lockdown.
The PUE Department has scheduled the examination to be held on 18 July 2020. The helpline number: 080-23083900 is set up by Karnataka Board to assist students in understanding the way to appear for the pending English exam.
Outstation Students: Appearing from Nearest Exam Centres in Karnataka
As English paper was the only pending exam for the 2nd PUC Exams 2020, many students had returned to their hometowns during the lockdown. Post scheduling the new date, students are facing challenges in returning and appearing for the exams.
In view of such circumstances, Karnataka’s Education Minister S Suresh Kumar announced that students will be allowed to appear for English exam from the nearest exam centre in their hometown.
However, such exam centres in their hometowns need to be within the Kerala State Board. This decision is believed to give major relief to students from Kerala's Kasaragod district bordering DK district of Karnataka.
The State Government has decided on allocating special buses to ferry students to and from border districts and exam centres.
Students From Residential Schools To Change Exam Centres
The nationwide lockdown and PUC’s postponed English exam adversely affected the students from residential schools or department hostels and children of migrant labourers.
As they have returned to their hometown, Karnataka Board has allowed them to change exam centres nearer to their current residence.
For now, 16,229 students have applied for exam centre change pertaining to this issue. DUPE, therefore, is working on arranging exam centres for additional students in their nearest locations.
