Maharashtra: Degrees Issued During COVID Period No Different from Ones Obtained Earlier, States Uday Samant
Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant have stated that there will be no difference between the degrees awarded to students during the COVID-19 period and similar certificates obtained earlier.
The Minister, speaking to the media and responding to questions, stated that the Maharashtra State Government will take action against private companies or industries if they look down on the degrees awarded during the period of the pandemic.
The Minister also clarified that the university degree certificates would be the same as they used to be and that no separate certificates would be issued to the students.
He added that the recruitment of university teachers will resume once the situation in the state has returned to normal.
Recruitment of Teachers to Universities
The Government has not halted the recruitment process and the Government Resolution issued on 4 April 2020 to stop recruitment as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic is not permanent and the same will be withdrawn after the end of the pandemic period and recruitment will begin once the situation has returned to normal.
While talking about the Maratha Reservations and responding to the question on the impact of the High Court Order on admissions to various courses, the Minister stated that the cancellation of the interim stay of the Supreme Court on the implementation of the Maratha Reservations in Education and Jobs is a priority for the Government of Maha Vikas Aghadi.
