Maharashtra girl with Learning Disability Scores 85 Percent in SSC Board Exam

Dia Katija, a 16-year-old SSC student with learning disability scored 85 percent marks in the board examination. A student of Modern School in Vashi, her principal also congratulated her for excelling in her examination.

When Dia was in class 8, it was discovered that she had Learning Disability (dyslexia and attention deficit disorder). Her school wanted Dia to be separated from the other students and made to sit in the library alone.

This is when her parents begin looking for another school for her. However, many schools refused to admit her because of her disability. Finally, Modern School accepted her. Along with her teachers, Dia’s parents also paid extra attention to her studies. Dia also showed interest in sports and classical dancing.

Dia’s mother said, “I want to tell all parents who have kids with LD to not worry or become anxious. Also, it is better not to isolate them from other students, as they only need to work a little harder on their studies to do well in academics.”

Dia wants to study Commerce in 10+2, and later join the Indian army as an officer.

“Since Dia is also good at sports, we are sure that she can achieve whatever she dreams of doing, including becoming an army officer.”
