The revised opening date is August 8, 2026, at 12 noon. The update was published on the official portal at mcc.nic.in.

The postponement follows a fresh notification from the National Medical Commission (NMC) concerning Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) candidates. MCC has aligned the counselling calendar with the new PwBD guidelines.

Registration for NEET UG 2026 Round 1 counselling will continue on the MCC portal until August 12, 2026. The fee payment deadline is August 12, 2026, at 3 PM. Only registered candidates will be allowed to fill and lock their choices online.

Why Was the MCC NEET UG 2026 Choice Filling Postponed?

MCC has cited the recent NMC notice as the reason for postponing the choice filling process. The notice revises the eligibility rules for PwBD candidates. The counselling schedule required alignment with the fresh guidelines before candidates could begin filling their choices.

MCC has also updated the Round 1 counselling process this year. Online document verification will replace physical reporting for many candidates. The change aims to reduce travel and speed up the admission process.
