Prasar Bharati to Launch 51 Education TV Channels; Signs MoU With Electronics and IT Ministry

Public broadcaster of India, Prasar Bharati has signed an MoU to launch 51 DTH education channels with the ministry of electronics and IT on November 4, 2020.

The Government released a statement stating that the MoU signed between Prasar Bharati and BISAG-N under the ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has the objective to bring quality education programs to every household including rural and remote areas.

List of Channels to be Launched

The following section gives the list of 51 DTH education channels to be launched under the ambit of this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Swaymprabha - 22 channels (M/o Education)
e-Vidya for classes 1 to 12 - 12 channels of NCERT
Vande Gujarat (Govt. of Gujarat) - 16 channels
DigiShala under M/o Electronics and IT - 1 channel

The government has informed that these channels will be available for free as DD co-branded channels to all DD Dish viewers.

"This move aims to bring quality educational programs to every household, including those in rural and remote areas," stated the Government Statement.

All the viewers could avail this service free of cost 24/7 in line with the commitment of the government towards skill development and providing quality education.

In achieving the government's goal of providing education to all, this initiative of the government will go a long way, the statement said.
