New Delhi: Prime Minister, Narendra Modi inaugurated a medical college in the town of Silvassa and launched multiple initiatives in the Indian Union Territory of Dadra along with Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu totalling more than INR 4,800 crore, based on the government sources.

This is the very first medical college within the Union Territory of Dadra along with Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, and as a result, it has become a beacon of optimism and a symbol of the rising aspirations of the regional people, of whom approximately 40 per cent are tribals.

According to The Print, PM Modi arrived in Silvassa, the district capital of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, today, on April 25, 2023, to dedicate the centrally-funded 'NAMO Medical Academy & Research Institute' along with the associated buildings on the campus. The total cost to build the medical college was INR 203 crore.

The NAMO Medical Education & Research Institute's infrastructure includes modern facilities such as a multi-story library, a learning block with four seminar rooms and an auditorium, a club house, residential housing for faculty and a hostel for students, as well as provisions for outdoor and indoor games.

After officially inaugurating the first medical college in the Union Territory, he went on a tour of the site to take a look around. The prime minister also spoke with the labourers who are building the university campus. The administrator of the Union Territory, Praful Patel, accompanied him.

The officials added that he plans to conduct a 16-kilometre-long roadshow in the Union Territory town of Daman in the evening.
