University in Kashmir Allows Admission to International Students for the First Time

New Delhi: Kashmir's Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology has announced for the first time that it will admit international students. Beginning with this academic year, international students will be eligible to apply to UG and PG programmes and short-skill courses.

The Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-K, Nazeer Ahmad Ganai, announced on September 19, 2022. He distributed an admissions brochure for undergraduate and graduate programmes to Indian and international students.

The Vice-Chancellor stated that the University's goal is to make Kashmir an education hub. It is not just trying to improve the capacity to attract students to the Valley but also sending them to prestigious schools elsewhere.

"We're not in isolation, and we want to establish an ecosystem that every university in India must follow," he was quoted as saying by the PTI.

Vice Chancellor Ganai listed the advantages of attending the University. He stated that adventure tourism, ecotourism, and winter sports are available in Kashmir. The brochure says that the University admits international students twice yearly during the fall and spring semesters.

Additionally, the VC noted that to strengthen the knowledge hub in the valley, "At the same time, we are confident in our ability to restore what was lost, namely the youth of the state, which was once the centre of knowledge. Foreign student admission has officially begun this year in a large way as a first step."

The Vice-Chancellor stated that the institution is recruiting ambassadors around the Valley to share knowledge. He noted that the ambassadors would spread the word about how gorgeous the location is, as well as provide information on the infrastructure of the educational institution.
