On Thursday, August 20, 2020, the state government of West Bengal launched an admission portal for students to collect real-time information on colleges.
The Education Minister of the state, Partha Chatterjee tweeted, that this interactive portal named, Banglar Uchhosiksha' (Higher Education in Bengal) will be of great help to students.

The portal will provide all necessary information required for admission to state-run colleges including eligibility criteria, cutoffs and so on.
For information, the West Bengal government began the admission process for the state-run colleges from August 10. This year, the West Bengal government has assured students will not be charged any fee for applications.
As per the official order, no money can be charged from students for providing application forms or prospectus for admission. The move is expected to bring big relief to the students of the state who are likely to start their higher education journey.
The minister further tweeted stating, “In these difficult times (due to the pandemic), we are introducing this portal for students which will give all kinds of information regarding admission to colleges. We are sure it will be of great help to the students.”
He even provided the links to the new college admission portal provided by the Bengal government.
