How is life at University of Hyderabad?
If you are a north Indian, you will need some time to get used to the food. Otherwise, life at University of Hyderabad is good. You will find like-minded people on campus.
Although most people use Talegu to communicate on campus, language will not be a problem. Almost everyone can communicate in Hindi and English too. As it is a metro city, Hindi is pretty common too.
The university offers good exposure to international education. The teaching methodology and research facilities at the campus are also great.
One thing that can bother you at times is the student union politics. Besides that, you can expect a decent campus life.
How should I prepare for the GBPUAT UG entrance exam?
To apply for the B.Tech program at GBPUAT, a deep understanding of basic PCM concepts is required from the students.
For the other UG courses, the university organizes a common exam. The multiple areas on which students are tested include- logical reasoning, basic Hindi, basic English, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry.
The examination’s difficulty level is not very high. However, there are only a limited number of seats because of which the final cut-off is high.
More than 90% of the questions can be solved with a thorough reading of the school syllabus (11th and 12th especially). Analytical reasoning and logical questions require basic common sense.
Time Management is very important to keep in mind.
Students who do not belong to Uttarakhand need to seek admission to the UG programs through ICAR’s entrance exam. The top rankers in ICAR’s entrance exam get admission into the university.
Paper Pattern (Other UG Courses)
- Total 200 compulsory questions
- GENERAL APTITUDE, LOGICAL/VERBAL/NON-VERBAL REASONING - 50 questions for students of both PCM and PCB streams
- For PCM students 50 Math questions, For PCB students 50 Biology questions
- Chemistry and Physics, both containing 50 questions each, for students of both PCM and PCB streams
- The exam is of total 600 marks with each question of 3 Marks. There will be a negative marking of 1/3rd mark for every wrong answer.

What is the procedure to calculate the percentage for B.Sc Honours from Patna University? Does it involve only the marks of honours papers or are papers of qualifying nature only involved?
In Patna University you have to calculate the percentage from total marks you obtained in your honours.
If you have four honours papers of 100 marks each and you have got 320 out of 400. Your percentage will be 80%.
In subsidiary papers you only need to pass as they are not included while calculating the percentage.

- Do not bunk classes. Make notes properly as they will help you during sessional and semester exams.

- Have friendly nature with everyone but don't make too many friends. By having too many friends can divert you in the wrong direction.
- Don't join any club just for fun and join only if you are interested. There are more than 30 clubs in GCET.
- Don't indulge in bad activities as GCET is very strict and you can be fined heavily or even suspended.
- The English language is overrated in GCET so if you are weak in it then start working on it.
Set your goal on the day when you enter the college. It will help you to stay focused as there are thousands of distractions at the college if not being reminded about the goal.

- IIM Ahmedabad is situated in an alcohol-deprived state called Gujarat and students face lesser distractions while IIM Bangalore is in the pub capital, and IIM Calcutta is in the city of ITC.
- The nearest airport to IIM Ahmedabad is just 30 minutes away thus providing great connectivity while the nearest airport to IIM Bangalore is 2 hours away and to IIM Calcutta is 1 hour away.
- IIM Ahmedabad has a small and cozy 67-acre campus, with a beautifully maintained lawn while IIM Bangalore has a massive 100-acre campus and IIM Calcutta has a 135-acre campus, situated in the midst of a forest.
Placements-wise, I deem all the IIMs to be somewhat similar with the same companies offering similar roles and packages to their students.
It can thus be concluded that IIM Ahmedabad is better than IIM Bangalore or IIM Calcutta.
How good is NIT Jamshedpur? Why is its ranking poor?
While NIT Jamshedpur has not scored well in the ranking criteria set by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), there are several factors that make it a good choice for students. Here's what you need to know:
- Ranking criteria: MHRD uses various parameters such as research paper publications, students to teachers ratio, infrastructure, and other factors to rank engineering colleges. Unfortunately, NIT Jamshedpur lags behind in most of these areas. However, it's important to note that rankings are not the only indicator of a good college.
- Infrastructure: Despite its low ranking, NIT Jamshedpur is improving its infrastructure day by day. It currently has two mega hostels with a mega mess that is well-maintained. - Placement: One of the best things about NIT Jamshedpur is its placement scenario. The placement percentage is excellent, and almost every student gets placed in their final year, except for those who choose to prepare for other competitive exams such as GATE or CAT. Being situated in an industrial city like Jamshedpur, the institute has an edge over its peers in terms of placement opportunities. If you work hard during your time at NIT Jamshedpur, you can land your dream job with a good salary package.
- Average package: The average salary package of NIT Jamshedpur graduates does not justify its low MHRD ranking. This means that even though the college has not scored well in the ranking criteria, it still produces highly skilled and employable engineers who get placed in well-reputed companies.
While NIT Jamshedpur may not have a good MHRD ranking, it still offers a lot of benefits to its students, such as improving infrastructure, excellent placement opportunities, and high salary packages.
