Remarks

At first let's talk about the positive side, thia is the best college in our locality in every possible aspects. But, for negative side, I can say that there are lack of sufficient faculties. The teacher-student ratio is more than 1:30. Hence it is a serious issue.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is pretty good. Almost every subject of science and arts are likely to be found here. Bengali, English, History, Geography, Sanskrit etc all major arts' subjects and Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, Nutrition etc all major science departments are present here. The exam pattern is semester based. There are two semesters in a year and total six semesters are required for the course completion within 3 years.

Placement Experience

3

As it's not an technological institution or professional institution, the conventional placement cell is absent. But every student has a very high chance to get a well reputed institution for higher studies or premier company for job after passing out.

College Events

3.5

There are many such events that are celebrated in our college during different times in a year. Here are some - 1) Netaji Birthday Anniversary (23rd January) 2) Republic Day(26th January) 3) Holi Festival ( March ) 4) Ramnavami (April)5) Independence Day ( 15th August) 5) Annual Cultural Event 6) Annual Sports Event 7) College Fest 8) Saraswati Puja 9) Viswakarma Puja 10) Agamani Utsav 11) Ganesh Chaturthee and so on.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is standard. I mean it's not much expensive at all, but a little bit more than other colleges. But you can avail some scholarships to recover the money. You have to pay an amount during admission in each semester and again before the End Sem Exam.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, there are some scholarships to sponsor your expenditure. Here are some - 1) The Merit cum Means Scholarship or the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship, funded by Govt. of West Bengal, 2) Scholarships for SC, ST & OBC, 3) Kanyashree Prakalpo for women etc.

Campus Life

4

Our college provide decent laboratories equipped with all modern instruments. The laboratory assistants are also very helpful. As our current syllabus is practical based so Laboratory is an essential part of our education. There are both indoor and outdoor stadiums in our college premises. You can choose according to your interest.

Alumni/Alumna

Our college has a strong alumni network. All of them are well-established and helpful to junior students. They also contribute funding for the development of our college. They frequently visit our college with joy and enthusiasm.

Admission

At first a merit list has made on the basis of our 10+2 level marks. Then my name was selected in the merit list. I ranked first in the merit list. Then in counseling I was selected & I provided the original documents to college office for verification. Thus the admission procedure completed.

Faculty

3.5

Our college has a decent set of faculties, considering all the departments. They are very kind, helpful and student friendly. They are always there to support us in every possible way. They try their best to maintain the academic standard.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
