Remarks

Having a huge history, the college is a reputed one. From academics to extra curricular activities, everything helps you to build your profile. Whether you plan for further studies or take up a job, all the options are open.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum of the college is well established. For Computer Engineering department, all the important topics–from Data structures to Database to Network Security and not to forget Artificial intelligence–all are covered. The first year is common for all branches with common subjects like Chemistry, Physics, etc. Students get into their specific stream from 2nd Year. Every year is divided into two semesters. Each semester has 3 exams Test 1, Test 2 and End Semester Exam. Students who fail get a chance to give retest after the End Semester Exam. Even if they fail again, they get a chance to clear the subject during Summer Term.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement record of the college is very good, especially for Computer Department. The highest package goes upto 40 lakh, while average being 8-9 lakhs. Many MNCs come for hiring, and the college boasts of it good alumnus records. The college also provides summer internship opportunities after 3rd year. While recently has also made provisions for 2nd year internships too. I did my 3rd year Summer internship at Credit Suisse, with stipend 40k. Other than this college provides international universities internship opportunities too.

College Events

4.5

As I mentioned in the title itself, the college has come to be known as College of Events Pune due to the number and variety of fests held. The college boasts about the unique event Regatta which is in it's 92nd edition this year. It is held by the Boat Club, which is only 2nd of its kind in the country. Thrilling events like Kayaking, Rowing are organized. The technical fest MindSpark is the 2nd largest tech fest of the state. Sports fest Zest invites teams from all over the country. Cultural fest Impressions which is just in it's 4th edition has set up a high standard already, with amazing concerts, events held. The Pune Startup fest which just had it's first edition provided an amazing platform for all the budding start ups from various sectors and there by promoted Make In India movement beautifully. Apart from this the college has multiple technical and managerial clubs to cater the interests of all students. One such club being CSAT, which has launched the college's very own satellite.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a government college, the fees is less as compared to others. Currently the fees is 84k for non TFWS and 69k for TFWS students ( TFWS - Tuition fees waiver scheme) The hostel fees has increased to 30k per year.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college does not explicitly provide any scholarship. However students are informed of various scholarships from outside to apply through circulars. The College also doesn't provide of any loan facilities.

Campus Life

4

Multiple extra curricular activities are carried out. Gathering is another good event held in college. Labs for Computer Department are not so good. The building is very small, however a new building is on paper which will be built with well equipped labs in coming years

Hostel Facilities

4

The girls hostels building for 2nd to 4th year is a recently built one, with good Infrastructure. However there are leakage problems in the Mess. The food is of good and affordable quality. Meals include Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Snacks and Dinner. There is a feast on Sunday afternoon and the mess is closed at night. In time for girls is 9pm Monday to Saturday and 10pm on Sunday. The 1st year girls are alloted separate buildings which are very old. There are water scarcity issues many times though and no availability of hot water during winters sometimes. Boys hostel have different blocks and mess for each year. The buildings are pretty old and facilities are not very good.

Alumni/Alumna

Although many of the alumnus of the college are at reputed positions today, the alumni network is not so strong. Efforts are being made to bridge the gap through various means like social media and college portals. The environment of the college is very good with seniors being very helpful. Ragging is strictly prohibited. Nonetheless seniors are the people you go to with your problems and they will never say no.

Admission

It is one of the premier institutesn in the country. Being a Government college gives an edge. The first step is to give the State Entrance exam CET (engineering). The process starts onve the results are declared. You can apply for the college on the official DTE portal. The cutoff for the Open category is high. Multiple CAP rounds are held. Once you apply for the colleges based on priority (for college as well as stream), you wait till the results for that CAP round. If you get the desired college and stream you can Freeze. Or else you can wait through (Float) multiple (usually 4) CAP rounds to get on the list. However you need to apply for the first CAP round. You cannot directly apply for 2nd or 3rd rounds. A chance for newcomers is given in 4th round where they can apply again.

Faculty

3.5

The college has a history of more 150 years and has seen many good professors. There are new faculties as well as some emeritus professors, PhD's, etc. Computer Department being a recent one do not have many experienced professors although with good knowledge. Other than this it depends on the perception of the student.

Placement Experience:

Placements at ADYPU are moderate and structred . Students usually become eligilble from the final year for campus drives. Various startups and mid level comapnies visit for roles in sales, marketing, operatioons and tech support . The highest pacakage generally ranges arounf 45-50LPA , while the average package is around 4.5-6 LPA , depending on the profile . A fair percentage of active students secure placements. After completing my degree, i plan to focus on skill development and pursue better career op;portunities.
