CUSAT, Integrated M.Sc

Remarks

Like every college student, I'm too enjoying college life. This is the most beautiful period of my life. So along with enjoying we care about academics too. I'm pretty sure that this college life gonna mold the exact me for the future.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Integrated MSC in Cusat follows the syllabus of Berkeley University. It gives equal importance to both theory and practicals. The curriculum is best enough to mold a good science student. The syllabus is also aiming at application levels of science. Being the second batch it's easier to get campus placements also. Each sem we have 3 internals and one sem exam. In the whole 10 semesters, field trips are conducted as per the syllabus. University is autonomous too.

Placement Experience

4

Since we are the second batch our seniors should be passed out to know about the exact placements. Still, they assure us of proper campus placements. Usually, Integrated MSC students apply for Ph.D. programs after the completion of the course. We are able to participate in internships during every sem break. During the course, we are trained to attempt CSIR and various other exams.

College Events

4.5

Many fests are conducted. Space X, Medha, Ted X, etc are some science and interactive fests conducted over there. Technical fests like Dhishna, Anchorage, Propulzo, Talentime, etc are also conducted with equal importance. Sargam 2020 was our cultural fest which enables the participation of University-wide students. Celebrities are visited often as a part of the cultural fest in the university. Sunburn is also conducted for Cusat students. Cusat is a complete package of education and enjoyment. extravaganza.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible for students from any economic background. There are only 8000 rupees as semester fees. No additional fees are collected from the authorities rather than the semester fees. For these meager fees, they provide us with all modern facilities. We have an interactive touch screen board, 5 centralized AC, lift facilities, a large classroom, and everyone has a separate chair and table in our department. An interactive touchscreen board enables more effective science study. Visualization of concepts helps to complete the extraction of knowledge. University provides us all the facilities.

Fees and Financial Aid

Many scholarship opportunities are available like egrants, post metric, prathibha, inspire, central sector, etc. I have applied for inspiring and e grantz scholarship. These scholarships are independent of annual income. Eligibility criteria for inspire is that the student should complete higher secondary education recently with a percentage greater than or above 95 percent. For E Grantz the candidate should not belong to the general category. All students could apply for at least one scholarship.

Campus Life

5

There is no gender inequality in our University. Girls have equal opportunities as boys have. Girls in our University are a little bit active than our boys. In cultural and academic activities girls have equal importance. No segregation between girls and boys. In our department no. Of girls is more than that of boys. In university there is no Hindu no Muslim no brahmin or no poor, we are all Cusatians.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I'm staying in the University hostel. We have scholarships to hostel rent and mess bills. Hostel rooms are spacious enough to accommodate 3 more roommates. Hostel food is a little bit problematic. Food taste is of under quality. Other University hostels provide good food excluding our hostel.

Alumni/Alumna

Our only seniors are now in their second year. So we don't have an alumni network. Alumni networks of other departments are doing well for the development of the University. Many contributed to the infrastructure and academic developments even after passing out.

Admission

For a science aspirant like me, the best option is an integrated MSc program since it provides navigation in a wide range. Another benefit of the course compared with usual ug courses is that the student gets basic knowledge in every science subject rather studying only one. Cusat initiated its Integrated MSC program just one year ago. After the entrance exam, the results were published soon. So when I got the appropriate rank in the entrance to get admission over there, everyone said it's riskier to study a newly introduced course. But I was daring enough to take that risk since CUSAT is a reputed University in Kerala. And the faculties are well qualified and trained to meet our enthusiasm for science. University provides the student with a multitude of higher education and job offers. And I browsed about the campus life in Cusat. It was pretty amazing with lots of fests and events like sunburn, Anchorage, etc. So I followed the details provided by their official site. And I got admission on 19th June of 2019. Classes started soon on 17 July. As soon as we reached over there we got the hostel facilities.

Faculty

5

Faculties are well qualified and experienced. Most of them are worked at IIT s IISc IISER etc. Faculties for various science subjects are from various science departments of CusatDoubt clearing sections are also provided during the lectures. The science fest and events like SPACE-X provides valid certificates.

Admission:

Amar college takes admission merit wise criteria. Aggregate marks obtained at 10 + 2 or equivalent are taken into consideration while preparing the merit list for each course. Applications for admission are accepted in online as well as offline mode. After acceptance application for admission one has to go through a short interview before finalisation of the admission. Being an over 35 years old college in the district it is known for the quality of its education.

Remarks:

The best remark I could make here is that the college gives you the freedom to work and push your ideas. The facilities like Cisco Thingqbator, Kerala Startup Mission and Fablab can take you to another level. The bad remark is that the institute's own premises are less and offer no hostels. But from 2020 onward the entire IIITMK is moving to the new international campus (in Technocity, 7km away from current location) having hostel facilities for all.

The best thing I found there is a Cisco Thingqbator (Maker space) where we can build IoT devices and more.Cisco is doing this project with partnershiping with Nasscom and Defy.Li2 conduct lot of workshops under Thingqbator about IoT and machine learning and lot of things.Even they mantor students to build their idea which is submitted under cohort programs hosted by them and provide all fecilities and equipments. This is the only one thing that I kike in this Institute. It is well maintained by Cisco not by our administration. That may be the reason it is well maintained.
