Remarks

It's a good college for the students who belongs to the Shantipur and the villages near Shantipur.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

We have to attempt the examination two times per year. One is the Test exam of college. And one is from University, which is arranged at the last of a season. And we have to go another college to attempt this exam. But I haven't seen any industrial visits till now.

Placement Experience

0.5

I didn't see any company has visited the campus for their placements. Actually this is a college for graduation under University of Kalyani.

College Events

4.5

They arrange an even for freashers at the starting of every seasons. They call few guests for this event. They arrange an another event at the middle of the season. They invited some guests and 1 or 2 popular person. We enjoy the Saraswati puja every year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

At first I want to tell a thing that Santipur College provide transparency in the fee-breakdown. And there are no additional fees that had to be paid in order to secure an admission. The admission structure is completely based on the marks of H.S. but there have few seats for minors. And the admission fee, registration fee, examination fee and the course fee varies according to the course and the subjects you have chosen.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, the college isn't offer any scholarships. But they students who carry 60% of marks in total in the final exam of every year they can apply for the SVMCM.

Campus Life

4.5

The number of male and female students are almost equal. We have mathematics, physics, chemistry, botany, zoology labs. And every year they arrange the annual sports event. All the students can participate in this. There has few races, high jumps, long jumps etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

No hostel facilities are available fo the students. It's a big problem for the students who has come from a long distance. They rent a flat or a room near the college premises and continue their study which is pretty expensive.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, absolutely the senior students are so helpful. They help us in our study, to arrange any events.

Admission

At first I had filled up the admission form online through the official website of this college. Then the merit list (based on the markes of H.S.) had come out. After that in a period of few days they had released few list respectively for the students who can take admission in this college. Then I had paid the admission fee through SBI collect. Next they had given me a date for the documents verification. I had gone to the college on that date and had completed the verification process. And. It's done.

Faculty

4.5

We have 6 teachers in our Mathematics department. Four assistant professors and two guest lecturer. All of them have M.Sc. and some have M.Phil and some have Ph.D. Average age of them approx 40. Some of them have 10-15 years of research experience. Some of them have 5-10 publications in national and international journals

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
