Remarks

The college ranking 11th nationwide is a well-enough proof of how well the management of the college is although the restrictions put on the students are no doubt harsh with respect to modern times, the end results is a set of brilliant minds in various academic fields who graduate with flying colours every year.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum is well structured according to the syllabi laid down from UGC. Being an autonomous college, the syllabus was further modified to help students crackdown exams at masters and PhD levels after the course ends. The exams are held in a semester - structure, with end semester exams being held in December and May. Industrial visits, Seminars and Conferences are held at least once every month for the students.

Placement Experience

3

The college, being mostly research-focused, usually discourages placement drives. Even though, the college prepares the students well enough for placement drives.

College Events

4

There are no technical or management festivals held in the college. The cultural festivals are held several times a year, simultaneously being held along with various religious festivals of the region and within the institution. The Ramakrishna Mission headquarters nearby also dictates over a few of the religious festivals of the institution.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is very low, keeping in mind the below poverty line families from where most of the students of the institution come from. Also, the institution offers a full scholarship to meritious students. The fee breakdown is very much transparent, showing how no extra surcharge is taken for almost any of the facilities provided.

Fees and Financial Aid

Although I didn't opt for any, the institute provides full-time and partial scholarships to students who are in need. The college also promotes students getting their own scholarships from the central government schemes. including KVPY and INSPIRE.

Campus Life

4.5

The institutions is an all-boys college. The campus life includes prayer twice a day and a no-mobile resiction throughout the campus. Debates, workshops, seminars, conferences and festivities are held hroughout the year, someties several times per week. The institute promotes a non-political campus life for the sudents.

Hostel Facilities

4

Opting for a hostel is necessary for the institution as the option for residency is compulsory. There are 5 main hostels for the students, where the facilities provided are state of the art. The hostels are supervised under the guidance of monks of the Ramakrishna Mission order.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network of the institute is quite strong. The institute hosts an alumnus meet and reunion for all the alumnus every alternate year within the campus. The alumni are also quite active in helping out the students within the campus and even in other places including studying abroad.

Admission

I was interested in the field of CS and wanted to join research from early days. The CS department of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira (RKMV) is supposed to be one of the best within the city, and also the college is located within a short walking distance from my place of residence. After my 12th exams in March, I prepared for the admission test, which was held in the last week of May, and was placed 2nd in the corresponding results. Then I got selected for an interview session where basics of computer science and mostly mathematics were the main topic of the questions. Clearing that, I secured my seat in the admissions, with classes satrting from the first week of July.

Faculty

4.5

Mostly all the lecturers of my course are permanent faculty of the department. There are 5 permanent lecturers and one visiting faculty within the department. All of them are UGC-NET qualified professors and assistant professors. Each lecturer has expertise over almost 3 subjects of the course on average.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
