Remarks

Overall Raiganj University is good for study. The environment here is good for students. But it has been noticed that some teachers and staffs are not totally dedicated to their work. Sometimes the behavior of the staffs are not good.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is good. All the teachers for each course are good. For B. Sc and B. A course, there are 6 semesters in three years. The students have to seat for two semesters in a year. After passing all the 6 semesters in three years, the students are given the B. Sc or B. A degree. If a student fails in first semester then he will have to pass the first semester paper in third semester. If a student fails in second semester or third semester or fourth semester, he will have to pass that paper in fourth or fifth or sixth semester respectively. If a students fails either in fifth and six semester, he will have to wait for the next year to pass in that semesters that means he have to wait for four years to get the degree. This is the UG(Under graduate) exam structure. The students who admit here for PG(Post graduate) course, will have to wait for two years.

Placement Experience

3.5

There are good job opportunities but you have to study hard for your benefit. After completing the B. Sc or B. A, M. Sc,M. A course, many students sit for SSC or other competitive exams. I actually doesn't know about the internship. I can't tell about it.

College Events

4

Many events are celebrated in my Raiganj University. The republic day is celebrated on 26th january. The independence day is celebrated on 15th august. The teachers' day is celebrated on 5th january. The main attraction was 'Raivary Fest'. It is the annual cultural function organised by Students Union. So many bollywood singers performed in our university in Raivery Fest.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is average. I have already said that a student have to pass 6 semesters for graduation. Each semesters fees = Rs. 2000-3000 The post graduate course's fees are almost like Rs. 3000-6000.

Fees and Financial Aid

The students are given scholarship under the state governments schemes. Most of the students fill the form of Swami Vivekananda Scholarship. A student who is in under graduate course, gets Rs. 12000-18000 in that scheme. Besides there are OBC scholarships for OBC students. There are also state government' schemes for minority students.

Campus Life

4

The extracurricular activities are also good here. The lab facility in all the required departments is good. There are so many physics and chemistry labs in our university. There is a large playground in our university where the students play cricket, football etc.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

There are two hostels in Raiganj University, a Boy's hostel and a Girl's hostel. Both are near the Mathematics department. But I haven't opted for hostel. One of my friends have opted for hostel and he told me that it is good.

Alumni/Alumna

Most of the senior students are helpful. They helps us by giving notes and suggestions for examination. They also give us previous year questions so that we could have the clear idea about question paper.

Admission

First I filled up the admission form of this university in online. In this process,I have scanned all the necessary documents for admission. Then the university gave me a message for admission fees. I paid the admission fees by online. Then the university gave me a verification date. In that day I went to the university for the first time and had shown all the required documents in the office my Mathematics department. After all this process I have got admission in Raiganj University.

Faculty

3.5

The university has average facilities for every course. I'm studying here in B. Sc(Mathematics) and the teachers in my department are good. They helps us a lot. The University has a large play ground where the students play cricket, football etc. The office staffs are also active. To sum up, it is a good university for study.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
