GCE Salem, ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERI G
Reviewed on Dec 31, 2015

Remarks

My college is the one place where in you will see what freedom means. How it is to enjoy freedom. College management yes it's good.

Entrance Preview

Anna university entrance examination for engineering. Initially I didn't have any guidance on which course should I choose either electronics or geo informatics. I'm not sure what will be the future of electronics and communication but I was sure about geo informatics. Since no one has heard about the later and due to the insistence of my father I had to choose electronics curriculum. At that time it's a hot cake and students admired it and felt job assured in the future. So I chose it.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Curriculum when compared to other field contains basics as well as not much of practical exposure. But interest matters wherever you are whatever you study if you have interest desire to learn something new then electronics is a food for thought. If you are strong in basics you can even shake the very base of this world. I studied well rather than electronics I preferred communication more because it lays down the principle to connect to devices or equipments. Over all the curriculum is good.

Internships Opportunities

Most of the companies are software and some are core companies like steel, motor companies. There isn't internship program. We were offered job directly through interview process.

Placement Experience

4.5

During my college time the placement was much better. Companies like TCS,wipro, fidelity, jsw, satyam computers, tafe, sterlite, csc, rane, essar steels and many more companies. Total placement was 98%.

College Events

5

Sports day it's a sports festival that happens every year. Every year students from each year will be divided into groups and compete. The ultimate winner will be decided. GECO fest it's college cultural festival that happens every years. Students from different year compete in events like dance, singing and many other cultural events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee to s very low due to the fact that it's a govt institution. First year it's 25000. 9000 admission fees + hostel fees. There were lot of one time fees. There is nothing to worry about fee structure, lowest you would witness in any part of Tamil nadu.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes there are lot of scholarship provided by govt through college. They are Inc scholorship first graduate scholarship and sc,st scholarship.

Campus Life

5

Campus life was beautiful. The campus extends over 350 acres with great amount of flora. It's the biggest campus you would come across Tamil nadu. It has separate football, basket ball and hockey ground and also indoor stadiums auditorium and separate blocks for each year students. Except mechanical and metallurgy other departments has equal gender ratios. Most people are Hindus,Muslims are few as well as Christians. It has great amount ethnic diversity.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

Hostel is a bit of down side plus food. Basic amenities are not that great as well as sanitation is not good. Water facility is a down side. Mess food in my opinion is bad and the quality of food is low.

Alumni/Alumna

The most friendly people you would ever come across. They were the best and most accomadating. They were like companions to us. Lead us in all aspects. We are in touch with some of the people.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty was good. As all the staffs should write Rhoads exam through govt of Tamil nadu. They have theoretical as well practical knowledge. During our there were lot of improvements regarding faculty side because tequila which resulted in tremendous training as well as state of the art equipments were bought for experimental purpose as a part of this program. Tequip is technical education quality improvement program funded by world bank. This program resulted many developments in college like state of the art digital library new labs and so on.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.
