Senior students are very helpful. They help juniors without any hesitation or asking. They see the juniors like their own younger bothers. The alumni network of this college very strong.

Admission

My schooling background was from Ramakrishna Mission (RKM). So I wanted to study in a RKM college for graduation. I wanted to be graduate in Microbiology because I had fascination about microbes world. And RKM Vidyamandira is the perfect institute for economically weak students in this study field.

Every faculty has Ph.D degree, some has post doctoral fellowship. Microbiology department has 10 faculties. Some are assistant professors, some are govt. part timers, some are visiting faculty. One is head of the department. They all are very student friendly, very sincere, fair minded. They don't see students differently on basis of exam results.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus and curriculum of Calcutta University is aligned with other entrance examination (eg.IIT JAM, JEST, TIFR, GATE etc.) Specially for the Physics BSc course. And the syllabus is updated Artificial intelligence bacis, Python Advance level is in syllabus, it's completed in college. Point to be Noted - The time given to prepare for the exam is sometimes ample but sometimes it is very less. So we have to prepare syllabus in time which is little bit frustrating.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Reviewed on Dec 17, 2024(Enrolled 2020)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.
