Remarks

Jadavpur University (JU) is known for its placements, the research work, the internship opportunities, faculties and the alumni network. The only bad aspect is drug addiction. The admission process begins with the registration of WBJEE along with the payment of Counselling fees (25th June). We have to fill our choices (till 30th June). If a seat is allotted, one has to pay the provisional admission fee and go to his nearby reporting centre along with documents (4th to 7th July). One can lock choices or wait for further counselling (9th July & 15th July). After the final allocation of seats, one has to physically report to the allotted Institutions (till 20th July). JU has always been an option for the students who had screwed their jee main and advanced.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I have chosen this course because the two core of Pharmaceutical technology is Chemistry and Biology. I used to like chemistry and Human physiology was my favourite topic in Biology and therefore I wanted a branch which has got the blend of both these subjects. In our branch the faculty: student ration is 1:86. For 16 branches the average faculty: student ratio is about 1:66. All the teaching facilities have a PhD degree from the our University or from the top institutions of the World. But, there are only a few professors who love to teach. Some professors also teach with the help of slides. There are semester exams (100 marks) and sometimes the professors conduct class tests (or ask to submit assignments). Practical exams are also conducted. The exams are held on time but it's worth mentioning that, one cannot pass just by memorizing the notes. One has to refer books for getting a better understanding of the concept as the level of the questions in the examinations are a bit high.

Placement Experience

4.5

Students get internships during 3rd year and they sit for placements in the 4th year. A number of companies visited the campus are 85 and 647 candidates out of 770 candidates that are around 84% got placement offers. Above 90% of the students of Computer science and engineering, Information technology Electrical and electronics telecommunications engineering got placed. Above 80% of the students hot placed in chemical, mechanical and instrumentation engineering. Above 70% of students of production, Pharmacy, Civil and Power engineering got placed. The percentage placement for Food technology and Metallurgy was around 50%. The 58 LPA package was offered to a student of Computer science and engineering. I am currently planning for doing M.pharm after getting the degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

Jadavpur University is also known for its fees structure. The total cost of getting a BE/B.Tech , B.Pharm or B.Arch degree is just Rs.10,510. This university is known for it's ROI. The fee is to submit on the day of admission and as a proof, every student is given a Money Receipt. I have heard about many Scholarships. The most popular Scholarship is the Alumni network scholarship. But every student cannot apply for it. The scholarships are only meant for students who cannot afford to pay their fees. The financial assistance is also provided by the students of FETSU (Faculty of Engineering and Technology Students Union). The Student Union try their best to support the students by collecting money from all the departments of the University. As far as I know, the placement scenario is good but I will not tell that it is the best. Students of top-notch branches get good offers. The average package for the core and lower departments are around 4 to 7.5 LPA.

Campus Life

4.5

The annual fest is Sanskriti and it is organized in the month of April by the students of the University. Tech fest is Srijan and it is organized in the month of March by the students of Engineering and Technology. At Jadavpur University there are two types of libraries. The central library and the Departmental library. There are a huge number of books and journals available in the libraries. Every classroom has projectors and blackboards. But the classrooms are age-old. Every department has got its own examination hall. Air conditioners are not available in the main campus but it is available in the JU Salt lake campus. Sports competitions are organized every year. The main sports event is U-turn (where only freshers can participate). If one plays well he hets selected for the college team. One can also join clubs of his or her interests.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because the curriculum combines clear theoretical foundations with strong practical exposure, and hands on session influenced by decision most. I felt curriculum was designed not just to teach concepts but to help students understand how those concepts are applied in the real situation
