Remarks

NSS ENGINEERING COLLEGE is one among the TOP 5 COLLEGES OF KERALA, MECHANICAL ENGG DEPT ONE AMONG THE BEST IN KERALA, SINCE ITS A GOVT COLLEGE YOU WILL GET RESPECT ALWAYS ALSO SINCE ITS A OLD COLLEGE PEOPLE RECOGNIZE YOU EASILY WHEN YOU SAY YOUR ARE FROM NSS, Some bad things about college is that unlike famous five star college you wont have much luxuries or different clubs or huge infrastructures that simply create a good looks for your eyes not for your future, if you want to learn engineering from a good govt college and good faculties mostly your classmates will be equally talented as you since people selected through govt merit, then NSS college is a right option blindly you can go for it

Course Curriculum Overview

5

when i was studying we followed 2004 calicut university technical syllabus which is relatively tough compared other universities in kerala during that time, some of the subjects are irreleavant during that time like tool design, heat tansfer equipment design etc but as per today competitative world we had studied almost all core subjects with vast syllabus exposure towards the new design softwares was limited also there is no compulsry industrial training during that time so lack in industrial exposures, its only because there are huge placement oppurtunities during that time in private and psus

Placement Experience

4.5

During 2011-12 Mahendra &mahendra, KALKI, L&T, Sanmar chemicals, MRF tyres are some of the core companies visited, Major criteria was no backlogs and some company had no backlog histories too. during my time out 540 students around 480 got placed, some software company like TCS,INFY, UST GLOBAL,ACCENTURE conducted mass recruitments college conducted palcement coordination committee and new placemnt block was build during 2011 from august 2011 every sunday there were pre-placement classes conducted also there were gate coaching classes tooo

College Events

3

CELEBRATION are conducted in big way but still we had limitation because it is a government college then adequate fund was not there, in 2011 PRAVEGA tech fest was conducted by mechanical engg dept, there was a cultural events which use to conduct at the time of feb- march which will be 3 days programme there will be various stage programmes done by artist across the state of kerala, at present may be it wil be big event, since i passed out 8 years back, so no much idea about it

Fee Structure And Facilities

feasible, in 2008 it was 6000rs only yearly fees whichwe have to pay during the beginning of academic year, also beginning of semester there will be registration fee of 150rs also university examination fee of 250rs twice a year. since it is govt college its damn cheap

Fees and Financial Aid

SINCE its a govt college, students from backward community had scholarship they have free hostel accommadation, they have to pay just only food cost also tution fee is exempted only they have to pay university exam registration fees also they will get grant from govt around 6000rs during that time

Campus Life

4.5

gender ratios was ample only some departments like electronics and computer science 70% students are girls only, since its govt college after 9am-5pm college sleeps. no more functions or activities. saturday sundays are holidays only, all the technical labs are soo good, most of machineries are old but damn reliable. we had big, big labs with ample space politics was there, each class can elect a representative from class, they will represent our class and elect a college union leader under whom all extra curricular activities and sports are decided

Alumni/Alumna

NSS ENGINEERING COLLEGE had a good aluminu network across the middle east, they used to help financially backward student for getting job abroad and during final semester, we can enroll to alumini association with registration fee of 500rs during 2012, now might be increased, so many seniors are working in good position now like defense, abroad, and industries etc

Admission

I got admitted to this college through kerala engineering entrance examination conducted in 2008 april 25th, Result of this exam declared on may last week, then exactly after 3 weeks, allotment process started, by end of july they declared alloted college list, by august last week joining and document verification was done and by september classes started. since my college is one of the premier college of kerala which startedin 1960 with three branches electricalengg, mechanical engg, and civil engg so mechanical engg is so famous here with good professors and good placements oppurtunities.

Faculty

5

ALL most all faculities during that time had excellent teaching experiences around 20+ years since the course started in 1960 also its a govt college, we had almost 15-20 faculties every one had Mtech mostly frm IITS and half of professors had phd too. some new faculities had 5-6 years industrial experience

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
