Remarks

College management is not very good. Will only advise to stay away from all those things.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The exam structure is hectic and will sometimes get the better of you. But they are not that hard to pass. If you are smart, you can sit one night before the CT's and get more than average marks. But it's not about the marks. If you are a techie like me, just do DS and DBMS, and land your dream job.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement is centralised and students from all batches of SRM are to report to KTR branch to get placed.Competition is fierce but there is this silly categorization of being placed called the Dream and Super Dream companies. Once you get a Dream offer, you cannot sit for other Dream companies.

College Events

2

Al South Indian events are created here, but they have an issue in giving Holi as a holiday,So incase you decide to join, be ready to do a mini protest to earn the holiday. Rest of the year there are fests going on from all the departments. Also, if you want you can attend the fests of the other branches.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees is very transparent and a clear background is provided. The only issue I had was the sports fee that was charged was an overkill. Rest everything is clean as water. You can directly interact with the finance department if you have any issues. Also they do support all modern payment modes.

Fees and Financial Aid

I was not eligible for a scholarship. But yes if you are a 9 pointer in the first 2 sems, you can apply for a scholarship and also if you have a very high rank in SRM Jee then also you are eligible for some discount.

Campus Life

2

Gender ratios are off for mechanical. For CS they meet the standard benchmark. People from all around India join this college and you are bound to make some crazy friends and meet some like minded people. After 4 years you are bound to leave this place with a lot of memories to cherish for a lifetime.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

No I did not opt out for hostel because by the time I reached Chennai, the rooms were filled up.But that was actually a blessing because I got a decent PG and was able to manage well and ended up learning quite a lot of things.

Alumni/Alumna

There is a mixed bag when it comes to seniors. Some are really nice and inspiring, others those that you want to avoid. Eventually you will end up having a good eye of detail for people if not anything else.

Admission

Gave SRM JEE and got a rank of around 47k. Got merit seat in VDP with CSE. Wanted to come out of my comfort zone and explore more options because I am basically from Kolkata and did not want to do my college here.I am glad though that I took that decision.

Faculty

2.5

The faculty and guidance is not very good when it comes to CSE.There is alot of scope of improvement. Like no one told us that doing DS is what will land us a job and not those theorritical subjects like Theorey of Computation or Computer System Architecture.Though those subjects are definitely a good add on, but the focus should just be on DS and then DBMS.

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.

Placements are generally decent, with students becoming eligible from the final year. Several companies visit for recruitment, offering roles in technical and non-technical fields. Packages vary by company, and placement opportunities depend on skills and performance. Many students secure jobs, while others pursue higher studies or competitive exams.
