Remarks

We can rate it 7. 5/10. There is lot to learn but for all the opportunities you have to initiae yourself. Keeping intouch with seniors and clubs.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Well, this is where our college lackk somewhere. Main focus is on the theory part. There are some sources like DIC lab where you can learn a lot but still. And the knowledge provided to the students are less to get industry specific knowledge. The exams are also theory based, questions of previous year are also repeated.

Placement Experience

4

Placement of our college is pretty average. Last year companies like Amazon, Samsung and Airtel visited our campus. Moreover there was a student who was placed in Microsoft but it was an offcampus placement. Placment percentage depends on your branch, CSE, IT have 95% placement, its 75% for ECE and 50% for EEE, comes down to 30%for mech and biotech branch. And there is eligibility criteria for sitting in the placements and all the companies have different criteria of selection. Our college organise various seminars for helping in placement.

College Events

3.5

Only an annual fest GOONJ which is our cultural fest. Other small fests are organized by different commitees but they are not at big level. Moreover there is a politics in our college so it doesn't allow to make the fest grand. But even at small level if we actively participate it gives good fun and experience.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Well, there is every year 10%fee hike in our college, in my first year my annual fees was aroud 88, 000 including examination fess and excluding hostel fees and in the staring of my 3rd year it will be around 1, 02, 000. There is no additional charge for securing the admission. Payment can be made online or by payment at SBI branch thorugh challan. Yes college provide transparency in fee breakdown.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are various scholarships, the highest is EWS for students with family income less 2. 5 lakhs per annum. But each branch has 6seats each for boys and girls, if you are not in top 6 EWS student list, then either change the branch or leave the scholarship. One more scholarship is Merit cum means, I am also enrolled in that and it is for students with family income less than 2. 5LPA and it gives around Rs. 14000 every year. Our college release scholarship forms time to time, so that students can apply.

Campus Life

3.5

UIET comes under Panjab University, so if you are a hosteller you are very lucky to share the university main campus. College campus is very small. In college gender ratio varies from branch to branch overall it is around boys 7:3 girls but in university it will be around boys 4: 6girls. Extracurricullar is very good but you have to find the opportunities, keep update for competitions and tech rounds.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes I got hostel because of my good rank. Hostels are given on merit basis i. e. your JEE rank. The rent is very less around Rs 10, 000 per year for boys excluding mess charges. Hostel room is good compared to any govt college hostel. 2person share 1 room. PGs are available near the college, rent from 2500 per month(excluding food and other charges) to 7500 per month including everything.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network and seniors are very good. They are always ready to help. As there is politics so there is no ragging and by helping senior can have there political benefits from you like asking for vote and participating in political campaign. But apart from that other seniors are also awesome.

Admission

I always wanted to be a software engineer and admission in the engineering courses is through the entrance IIT JEE, but wasnt able to secure a good rank in JEE so the best college suitable to my rank was UIET, chandigarh. And here too I was not getting CSE or IT branch, still I took admission as it is a govt college and fees is less, moreover each branch sizze is of around 120 students which is very less than private colleges.

Faculty

4

Well we don't have this info but yes the number of teachers are pretty good in our dept. We can't also guess average age, qualification of our some teachers are PhD and some B. Tech from good universities. They have a good experience and also motivate us all the time. Most teachers have clarity for there subject, Some faculty also have indusstry based knowledge.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read
