Management is a little understaffed, but the new government is making some improvements.
Course and curriculum is government organised. So it is always good. Premises is also very green and cool compared to the climate of this region. Anatomy lab is the best and having the most number of specimens in the state. Lab equipment and spotters are one of a kind.
Once recruited on the basis of merit the course MBBS itself has mandatory rotatory internship of 365 days. MBBS stands for bachelor of surgery and bachelor of medicine. Students who did MBBS elsewhere are allowed to do internship here with special permission
Convocation, freshers' day, farewell party every year and occasional alumni meets are organised. We have a very big auditorium with good accoustics and equipment like projectors and Mike. It's 500 seater. We also have smaller halls to conduct seminars.
It is a government college and hospital. The fees are very minimal. Roughly around 20000 rupees per annum. The college also has hostel facility for boys and girls at separate premises with minimal charges. Food is great in the hostel. Boys hostel has a cricket ground.
Scholarship can be availed for the total tuition fee and a part of the hostel fee. Scholarship eligibility is based on the criteria laid down by the government on various factors which include local reservation criteria. Socio-economic status etc.
Gender ratios and diversity is not fixed because the admissions are solely taken on merit basis. Labs are very good. And our curriculum involves them. Sports are also given importance. There are intermedics and inter University competitions every year.
Hostel is big with enough rooms for all it usually is under occupied. Room rent is around 3000 per month plus another 3000 for mess( includes breakfast lunch and dinner). Rooms are available with both sharing and single occupancy based on affordability. As all the students are merit based, they need not be well off with the money.
Alumni are well settled in very high positions even in the USA and UK. They frequently visit our college and invest in it a handful.
Through an entrance exam conducted by the government. I chose this college amongst a total of five colleges because it is one of the oldest and the best medical colleges and also is associated with one of the oldest and most populated hospital. Faculty is also very experienced.
Though the faculty is short staffed, they are very experienced and interested in teaching the freshers. They are well versed with the curriculum and equipment pertaining to the curriculum. Very much to learn from them. The associated hospital is also very well equipped.
It was totally good, security is good faculty is good, everything is ok, we can enjoy with studies.
Good is academics Bad is they dont care about internal assessment, attendance, they just consider spot performance
College was falling in the average category in the private medical colleges
The language barrier has been a great problem, if your a not a regional student it will be a nightmare for your life, the college will. Keep finding ways to extract money from students, every building is old here, the food will give you diarrhoea every other day
I have completed my MBBS from Andhra Medical College. I have enjoyed my study and learned a lot as well. The faculty was helpful and I haven't faced any big issue while studying. College is having its separate gym, medical department and hostel which is quite good. The up to date labs were also useful in my study.
I don't say the best college but really the best part of student life where u get to learn new frnds some find life partner and many more trips with friends and those memories each and everything is like dream come true.
The College is affiliated to the international body, Medical Board of Recognition, California to provide global exposure to the students and ensure better growth prospects for training and placements. We had 100 percent placements each year. Major companies : 1) Care Hospital 2) Vasan Eye care 3) Mylon Pharmaceutical 4) Redox Laboratories Pvt. Ltd.
The course was too lengthy and descriptive and it was very detailed. There was a lot of focus on practical learning from 2nd year onwards.
