Remarks

The college was the best option if you wished to study engineering in Delhi after IIT Delhi. The faculty was learned and experienced. The college was highly rated in corporate world in terms of teaching provided.

Entrance Preview

I took and cleared IIT exam, but opted for Delhi College of Engineering as I offered Electronics & Communication at DCE, which is the branch I wanted to pursue. In BITS, I had option of both Computer Science and ECE but decided to pursue ECE from DCE.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum was inline with what was taught elsewhere. Electives options did not exist due to paucity of teachers for some electives. Availability of electives could have helped in focussing on subjects of interest.

Internships Opportunities

There was no stipend during internship but internship experience was good as it helped me with experience in both Data communications and Software. First training was in the area of data communication devices while the second was in data communication protocol domain.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placement cell was active but not too many organizations came for campus interview. Though I was placed through a campus interview but a few others were unable to get a job through campus placement. Few were more interested in competitive exams and thus did not apply through campus placements.

College Events

3.5

The only notable event was ENGIFEST which was a cultural festival which saw participation from other technical institutes including IIT Delhi and colleges from Delhi University. There were almost no technical or management events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee was very nominal. It was not more than Rs. 300/- per year. The book bank books were free and to be returned at end of semester. The library cards were issued for availing additional books. There were no additional charges in terms of fee.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships were available to the top 3 students. This was in addition to NTSE scholarships or any other you would be getting. Educational loans were not prominent and also not required due to reasonable fees.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus was a routine and nothing exiting. Seniors were helpful. No discrimation of any sort. ENGIFEST which was a cultural festival which saw participation from other technical institutes including IIT Delhi and colleges from Delhi University. There were almost no technical or management events.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel facilities were only available to those students who were from outside Delhi. The hostel facilities were good and were very reasonable. The mess food was also fine but the canteen was not very good. The shops near to the college provided option when you wished to dine out.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors were helpful. Alumni network existed at that time as well and organized one get togather each year. In corporate world alumni of the college were helpful.

Exam Structure

During the semester, exams were held every Monday and Thursday with different subject every time. Thus each exam tests were held 3 times during the semester out of which best 2 were considered for internal assessment. The semester examinations took place at end of semester and took place with 1 day gap between each subject.

Faculty

4.5

All faculty members were learned with good teaching experience. Overall the faculty was good and I had a good learning experience. Few faculty members were disinterested in teaching. Setting up of DIT in 1983 meant few teachers shifted to DIT, which was a minus.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is good. I do not feel very pressure. The course curriculum is design by GGSIPU. There is not spefific reason to choose to this course. It was my childhood dream to become computer engineer. I cant say that the curriculum prepares for real world applications because I am just second year students. The exam conducted on semester basis and its not very difficult.

If you study passionately and have decent communication skills and some important competencies, I assure you that you will secure a position in a great company. Here at IIT Delhi, you earn what you work for; you can receive salary packages as high as 2 crores, but some offers start as low as 4 lakhs per annum.
