Entrance Preview

Entrance was conducted by the Department. For PG course, it included a written test of descriptive questions to be answered in the form of two essaysfor M. Phil course, it included a Research Methodology examFollowed by an interview of the Department Faculty. The interview had questions on my previous degree course and the reason for me choosing Psychology

Course Curriculum Overview

4

We had classes for 5 days from 10 am till 5 pm. Each day there were 2 sessions of 3 hours each. The curriculum is a semester pattern with around 4 to 5 subjects per semester. The final semester included a Dissertation and an Internship programme.During my PG, we also had electives which could be chosen on any of the 4 semester and we should fulfil around 10 to 15 credits. I chose Tamil Journalism, Sports Psychology, Child and Adult Psychopathology.Tamil Journalism gave me a greater insight on looking at different perspectives in life.Child and Adult Psychopathology helped me to gain more knowledge on Psychology Applications

Internships Opportunities

I did my internship at District Rehabilitation for the Juveniles, at Chengalpet and at Saksoft ITES company. I did not claim any internship as i did not had the need for a stipend.

Placement Experience

3

Very good. I got into University Assistant Professor even before my M. Phil Degree was awarded. It shows the potential of my institution. Most of my friends got placed as HR in various organisations. Some of them went for further studies in India and abroad, like IIT Madras and Michigan University.

College Events

4

I had the opportunity to participate in various National and International Conferences, Seminars, Workshops and Educational Festivals. Apart from these, there were convocations, 150 Years Jubilee Celebrations, Inter departmental Sports Competitions, Theatrics, Fresher Parties, Farewell Parties, inter departmental cultural programmes

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee is too cheap for my course. During my PG I paid a one time admission fee and then tuition fee for two years. Every semester I had to pay exam fee. All together my total fee for the 2 years was only around 7000, since I got the seat by Merit. However, there were students on Management quota, whom I believe spent around 25000 per year. For my M. Phil, my total fee was only around 5000 both the semesters combined.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not avail of any scholarship as my course fee was too less. There were good number of scholarships and educational loans available to the students. The only thing is that the scholarship amounts don't usually come on time. But this is quite common in any Universities in Tamil Nadu.

Campus Life

3

Excellent days of my life. There were a number of extra curricular activities like sports, drama, dance, NSS.Apart from these we have a huge library with exhaustive books which is open from 8 to 8 round the year, i.e all 365 days. Library is a place where I learnt more knowledge than what i got from the classes.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni activity is the one that is lacking in my department. Other departments such as the Management or Commerce have a good network of Alumni and they involve in frequent meetings and development activities. But my department does not have such frequent meeting or rather the University as a whole does not conduct such meetings.

Exam Structure

The exams were not too hectic. We used to have a maximum of three internal tests, one assignment and one seminar, followed by one end semester exam. Atleast 50 % to be scored in both Internal and External exams to get passed in a paper. Similarly for Dissertation for Project, except that we had viva voce instead of the external written exam and we had to submit a report which is a consolidation of our internship activity or research work carried out under the guidance of a supervising faculty. Seminars, especially were more interesting and mind blowing.

Faculty

4

Some of the faculty such as Dr Parvathy, Dr Thomas, Dr Latha, Dr Leo Fernandez, Dr Jai Kumar are really excellent in their teaching. Apart from the internal faculty we also had faculty from other industry and institutions. The way the faculty from Anna University who taught Advertisement Psychology is unforgettable and highly energising.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is well-structured and covers both theoretical and practical aspects. It provides a strong foundation for higher studies and career opportunities. Internal assessments and semester exams are conducted regularly, with a fair marking system. More industry exposure, internships, and skill-based training would further enhance students' learning experience.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The department of English not only offers good education but also so many values to lead our life. Faculties were so friendly in clearing students' doubts. There was personality development course to improve students' personality. Students had to choose any other subjects other than they are studying for sbi course. Due to this students learn about other subjects too.

Madras School of Economics - [MSE], Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Economics)

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well the course provides almost everything which is needed and available. This is not a normal economics course as it involves statistics, python, core math and also dives into data science. This allows the students to explore various subjects and can choose which is their best fileld. The curriculum overall is very rigorous and intense but you can crack it if you study regularly. About the frequencies of the examinations, we have 2 internal examinations and 1 end semester examination. I can guarantee that this course is super rigorous but im not sure if i would necessarily say that the course is "practical" and it helps us in the real word. I cannot comment on the practicality of the courses. The exams are not super difficult and its moderate. Getting more than 90% can be challenging although clearing the paper won't be an impossible task.
