IIM Ranchi, MBA, Human Resource

Reviewed on Apr 24, 2020

Remarks

Coming from a hardcore manufacturing background, the role demanded to be a mediator between technicians/operator and the HR department and acting as a frontline HR for the technicians. This over a course of time developed interest and also some empathy towards people demands and needs.Indians institute of Management Ranchi being the only IIM to offer specification in HR and the fastest rising IIM amongst the new IIMs was the go to target and so prepared myself to give interview communicating as if already an HR, with confidence and a constant smile. This my interest for human resource management, and the college's excellent curriculum and strong academic foundation was the best place to build on my interest and leverage on my skills

Course Curriculum Overview

A heavy amount of research and time is invested by the faculties and team to decide on the best and most relevant subjects to be offered as electives after providing a strong foundation if MBA basics. A wide plethora of subject offering and highly knowledgeable and experienced visiting faculties who are also industry stalwarts make a perfect blend of textual and experiencial learning.

Class Size: 74Course Fees: INR 1620000 per year

Campus Life

Best In class hostels with big rooms, facilities like gym, TV, indoor sports like table tennis, carom etc with a close to the nature picturesque backdrop makes it a place to live and enjoy. The library is has a huge collection of offline as well as online books and hosts terminals like bloomberg for study and research.Simulation based experience are offered to give a hands on learning experience on the computers.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel its the highlight. The rooms are spacious with stayed toilets and galleries in many rooms. The housekeeping is at its best and every floor has faculties like a washing machine, RO water purifier and a geyser in every washroom. The mess provides meals for all 4 times with a huge breakfast spread and a menu that changes after every 2-3 months. The hostel is away from the hustle and bustle of the city and feels as good as your home with many local residents also sharing the premises.

Good for BCA without any tension and issues all things on time.

Likes

The college organizes great cultural events like the Navotsav fest during Durga Puja and the Roshni event for Diwali.
The faculty members are genuinely approachable, friendly by nature, and always ready to help students with their academic problems.
The campus infrastructure is quite good and provides a very decent environment for students to study and hang out.

Dislikes

The curriculum focuses a bit too much on theory; the college needs to prioritize providing more practical, industry-relevant knowledge.

Placement Experience:

To be honest, campus placements are quite low, and I don't think we can easily get placed directly from the college. Barely 40% of the students (or even fewer) get placed through the campus drives. However, if students practice coding and upskill on their own, they can secure off-campus placements by their second year. Because of the limited BCA placements, my personal plan is to pursue an MCA degree right after graduation.

The college environment is very calm and greenery all where.

Dislikes

Very short Campus

Course Curriculum Overview:

MBBS is all about learning and exploring . Only choose this profession when you have a will to help others otherwise it would be a difficult course for you. The passing marks of examination is 50 and for that you need to study hard.

college have great environment good facilities needed as per requirements ,college also have good spacious hostels and we can say better food comparing to what i heard from friends of different colleges ,the evening time is soothing and relaxing
a great senior junior interaction culture and memorable friendships letting you forget the world outside the campus, every festivals are celebrated with joy and fun ,from leaving a family to moving to another one you would love.
some of lectures are quite boring but some will amaze you with visionary thoughts ,every faculty will guide you if they see you lagging behind the course ,some extra sessions are also conducted, introducing new fields to think out of the box

Dislikes

things which i wish might get some improvements are sports facilities big grounds for sports activities students encouragement towards co-curricular activitiy, co-curricular activities get more support to come out with glorious and imagining skills.
fests do contain fun but due to time constraints before fests planning of amazing activities becomes difficult thus leading same things going on repeating, absence of good team leaders leading activities plays major role in activity failure and bored
night out time is a small problem, the area close to college is developing hence not having nearby much places for fun and chillouts spending your free time relaxing.

Placement Experience:

The placements in the college is average as during 2023-24 it was recession period all over the colleges are facing placements lags but still college students managed to achieve 22 lakhs+ off campus as well as 16 lakhs on campus placement. The college reached his highest placement of 51 lakh during 2023 ,the average package is 5-6 lakh and the placements percentage are 85 percent for cse students, the students completing 7th semester are eligible for on campus placement drive as well as off campus, some of the prominent companies visited are Microsoft, cognizant, samsung, byjus, infosys and 50 more.I will prepare for gate and after that i will try to get on and off campus placements which i will find better accept the offer.

IIM Ranchi Complete Review

The admission process is nice and transparent. I don't see any scope of improvement. But yes they should give higher weightage to CAT score because the students give 200% in securing a good percentile and then they get rejected because of past academic records or lack of experience or some other criteria which I feel is a little unfair. Otherwise all good....Read More
