Sapthagiri NPS University, ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS

Remarks

It is altogether a cool place to study with bit strict rules, but you would enjoy as the faculty is cooperative, but the college is mostly focussed on academics than on othet activity. But as a student you always have option to add or include activites in any college.

Entrance Preview

I cleared Karnataka CET exam and got 8016 Rank. I had few other good college options, but I chose sapthagiri college because many of my friends were had already opted it and it is pretty renowned as well Plus very strict rules but a very cool campus with full grenery and neat and clean campus.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I had chosen Electrical and Electronics. We had a good faculty ranging from Ph.D to Mtek. The course curriculum was based on VTU syllabus, so normally college do not have much to add to it, but they use to teach pretty with good labs and practical. VTU Syllabus is more focussed on theory but if you have a college with good practical labs and lab attendednts, then its not a bad combination.

Internships Opportunities

I dont think that internship was provided in Sapthagiri college of engineering, but I belive in Satpthagiri Medical college, it was provided. Sapthagiri medical college was just attached to the engineering college.

Placement Experience

4

Thats the best Part. We have a good placement officer, who had really good contacts. I mean were the best college for placements in North Bangalore, so i mean it was great. Companied from Wipro, infosys etc all good companies used to come, provided you have minimum, 65%.

College Events

2

We used to have Sapthagiri Shaan, every Year around October. This used to be our yearly bash. Also we used to have freshers party every year, when the freshers used to join around July, but please dont even think of ragging, as it was very difficult, college is very strict on the ragging part, so please dont even think about it.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Actually, I had joined the college through Karnataka CET, so for us it was yearly Rs18000, which was very reasonable. But students who used to join from COMEDK or Management quota, that used to be pretty costly affair. But if you from merit, then the fee strucure was very feesible and not pretty costly.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not availed any kind of loan, so do not have much idea about it. But I am sure college would be having such facility, but you need to check with the college.

Campus Life

4

The gender ratio was reasonable, as there were many girls in Bio Tech departments but less in mechanical and Electrical department, but as a whole i think it was 60:40(Male: Female). We used to have cultural events as sapthagiri shaan every year, where anyone could participate, apart from that freashrs party, which I have already mentioned. But this college is mostly more on academics than on anything else.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel was 3 student sharing/2 student sharing. There were many rooms in the hostel, so no issues with the vacancy in the hostel, but obviously issues are with the food. Food is not that great there, but it was very noce stay. Clean and nice hostel and alo in a very nice area, so not issue to stay in hostel as well.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students are helpful, and they would be required in the final project submission, so its always recommended to have seniors contacts. Apart from that even faculty is very helpful, so not much issues in that.

Exam Structure

Again, Exam structure was based on VTU curriculum, so not much influence of the college. But we used to have semester wise exams. So we had total 8 semester in BE. We used to have 5 Subjects per semester for which we used to have exam at every semester. The last semester i.e 8th Semester was mostly practicals, not much theory in that. So we could easily score a lot in the last semester.

Faculty

4.5

Faculty was great. There Qualification was ranginf rom PHD's to MTEK. They had vast experience, in fact out HOD had 30 years of experience in CPRI, which indeed is great as he had lot to tell about practical. In engineering I belive practicals are important than theory, so I think that was great about this college.Even assistant proffesors were minimum Mtech, which was reasonable, so altogether a good faculty.

Excellent placement training and reputed companies visit the campus. I had received offers from three companies which reflects the quality of opportunities available. Placement is one of the college's biggest strength. Student with no backlog and good academic records will get easily placed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The aspects like: we had 2 internal exams in the semester and after completing these internal exams roughly at the 5th month we had practical exam + end semester exams, these exams would be mainly theory based inclusing some conceptual based questions & based on our understanding only, we can able to write the answers. One thing, I would suggest was we shall give more weightage to the practical based learning, that too during our days we were just the beginning of AI & Iot era was effectively going on, if we had some advanced eductaion covering these aspects we would have got the opportunity to shine more in our carrers. As a student, we faced slight diffuclities and challenges matching the real-life happenings with the acdemics, that would be one of the shortcoming I can say.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I feel the curriculum is well planned, balanced and easy to follow. We start with the basics and along with theory there's a good amount of coding practice, assignments, and hands on learning. I like that the course isn't just about passing exams, it also focuses on building skills that will be useful later for internships and placements. So far it feels relevant, practical and not overwhelming for someone who's just starting out.
