St Xavier's Mumbai, BA {Hons.}, Mass Communication
Reviewed on Oct 3, 2020

Remarks

The cirriculum and the credibility St. Xavier's holds. Also the facilities are better here than it's counterpart at Park Street. Also, I heard the placements are good. Specially for Mass Communication, a degree from St. Xavier's is given a preference of sorts in interviews and such.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is great, very updated. The facilities are top of the line, for example, we use Macs for learning the latest softwares prevalent in the Industry now. The campus is more than spacious enough, great food at the canteen for reasonable prices. The only thing holding back St. Xavier's University is the faculty, at least for Mass Comm dept is the faculty, a few Professors really makes you wonder how they landed this job. And the kind of students that apply to this university, for the most part they are utterly basic and uninspiring. But since the University is in it's infancy, just 4 years running I think, with time these two pitfalls would dilute. In about 10 years or so, if they up their entrance test difficulty a bit, it can emerge as one of the best Universities in West Bengal.

Internships Opportunities

I've interned as a Video Editor with a production house and a Startup based out of Bangalore, the average stipend I was offered is around 5000 per month.

Placement Experience

3.5

I'm still in 2nd year, don't know much about it. But I do hear from seniors that placements are pretty good, mainly due to the "Xavier's" tag as they put it.

College Events

Campus life is mostly like a school but you can wear informals (T&C applies). Very weirdly you cannot change where you sit, you have to sit roll number wise which I understand for 1st year but I hope that changes later on. Our university fest, Xavrang is quite frankly one of the best in the city. Parking for motorcycles are available in-campus and cars outside campus. There are many commom rooms with TVs and all, game rooms, as well as a fully equipped gym.

Placement Experience:

Placements at ADYPU are moderate and structred . Students usually become eligilble from the final year for campus drives. Various startups and mid level comapnies visit for roles in sales, marketing, operatioons and tech support . The highest pacakage generally ranges arounf 45-50LPA , while the average package is around 4.5-6 LPA , depending on the profile . A fair percentage of active students secure placements. After completing my degree, i plan to focus on skill development and pursue better career op;portunities.

Placement Experience:

placements in GHRCE are pretty good for CS/IT branches. Students become eligible from 7th semester, but companies starts giving training sessions from 6th sem itself. Many known companies visits like Tcs, Wipro, Capgemini, cognizant, Infosis etc The highest package goes around 20-22 LPA while the average package is around 5-6 LPA. Almost 70-80% students from CS/IT get placed. My plans after getting the degree is to get a stable job and then do masters.

Reviewed on Mar 2, 2025(Enrolled 2022)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course out of sheer curiosity and intrest in the field of Artificial Intelligence . The course offered by the college encapsulates all the major subtopics included in the field. Theoretically the curriculum offers great knowledge about various topics from your course however you yourself have to figure out how do you build your practical skills which you can use in the real world. teaching methods can be improvised by implementing a more practical learning based approach rather than relying on the theoretical part of the subject. there are 2exams per semester, one small exam called as mid semester exams and the other one is the major exam called as final semester exam. difficulty of exam is usually easy to moderate and one can easily pass the exam even if he/she does not study regularly.
