Harsh Dubey's Review On Lovely Professional University - [LPU], Jalandhar

I came across lovely Professional University when i was searching for alternatives of government engineering colleges cause i couldn't clear jee mains. First impression of lovely Professional University for me was a university who excels in providing placements and especially for students who opt for computer science and engineering course from their btech catalogue. So I decided to join it as there were numbers to back their claim and they provided me good scholarship due to my better score in 12th and their exam LPUNEST. I also applied for chandigarh University but i didn't join it cause there was no qualifying exam as such and they gave admission if you have more than 60 percent in 12th. And lovely Professional University provided a better campus and a good living space at first glance.

Course curriculum is good and the approach that they have taken with teaching programming languages and data structures (in terms of semesters) is really good like teaching c in first sem then c++, html inn second, python in third and java in 4th but the actual teaching of these subjects takes a hit due to less no of specialised teachers. Many teachers are multi purpose teachers as they teach variety of unrelated subjects like ethics and python. And also many teachers lack experience as they have just passed their btech and are teaching btech students. Many times some problems remain unresolved even after weeks of asking the faculty specially coding problems. Course structure is good but the execution leads that course to nowhere

Placement opportunities are good provided you pay the placement fee which is an ever increasing affair. A lot of companies visit with some offering even more than 15 lpa but there is a very low chance of getting selected in them as they are called to increase college's reputation but you can get placed if you excel in all the problems that they through in your way. Amazon has selected few students and provided some good package so there is a way to get into good companies if u are truly passionate about you education and practical experience.

There is a ton of festivals that are organised in lovely Professional University as the management really thinks about entertainment and these festivals provide a good headline in news. Some notable mentions are One India, One World. Also there are a lot of celebrities from regional film industry and bollywood who visited the campus as it provides a good platform for promotion considering the no of students in this university. Some festivals like edm night are organised by University and some other events such as coke studio are organised in partnership with variously student organisations to provide recreation to students who are having a hectic schedule.

Infrastructure is a stand out feature of Lovely professional University as we have one of the best libraries a university can have. There is just a plethora of books to read be it from academics and be it from fictional novels and what not. Labs are also feature rich and more often than not have every thing needed present in them. Also most of the technician are good in their job but some are just below par. They just memorise the results and procedures of lab tasks and are clueless if you ask for anything else. Wifi is one of the worst features of lovely Professional University as the speed is capped at 100kBps despite having a 10gig connection. There is jionet which provides fast internet of 1 gb per mobile number per day but is only present in few hostels. Wifi is very bad and almost stays useless for any student. Sports facilities are good, there is every sports field present in university and recently a great swimming pool was inaugurated along with new gym and badminton court.
