Remarks

Lab Infrastructure:- In the microbiology department, it is well equipped with spectrophotometer, autoclave, hot air oven, centrifuge etc. It has separate laminar room also. It is fully air-conditioned. Classroom facilities:- Classes are conducted by the presentation. Teachers are very helpful. Library facilities:- the college has a fully digitised central library with a lot of books and journals. Our department also has a departmental library.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

This course has good future prospects. It has a good career for higher research. Also, many industries require eminent microbiologists. So I opted for this course. Faculty: students ratio is approximately 1:8 which is I think too good for this level of study. Some faculties have PhD degree and also NET qualified and few have MSc degree and industry experience also. They teach well and use presentations which is a quite good initiative for modern-day studies. Term exams are kept in a timely manner and its difficulty level is average i.e., not too easy or not too difficult.

Placement Experience

1

No on-campus placement is available there. But students especially in Microbiology, Molecular biology and biotechnology are able to take off-campus jobs in pharmaceutical sectors, brewery industry, health industry etc. I have a plan to do higher studies in my subject.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees hike doesn't happen generally for ongoing batches. They gave us an extra discount on lab fees in this lockdown. Admission fee in B.Sc Honours microbiology is 16945/- and per semester fee is approximately 10000/-. The college has no scholarships but it has some facilities for a tuition fee reduction. I got the SVMCM scholarship from govt of West Bengal. So I'm not eligible for this. On-campus job doesn't happen at college.

Campus Life

3

Annual fest generally organized in the month of January or February. It is quite good. And it is organised by the students union. All kind of books and journals are available at the library. And also the library is fully digitised. Classrooms have a chair, table, benches, projectors, white board and markers. It also has good lights and fans and few have ACs also. NCC and NSS are optional for the students. And annual sports occurs once a year. There are a few cultural groups but not so active.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.

Course Curriculum Overview:

B.Sc Computer Science Faculty: Student ratio is = 4:23 may vary a bit Faculty are well Qualified & Teaching method is okay good, but not to the mark like very good or excellent. The exam term was timely (sometimes it gets a bit late due to some natural disaster like cyclone, heavy rainfall, etc or any govt. & university delays), and the exam level is nearly too difficult, something like in between moderate to difficult.
