LPU, Master of business administration [MBA] (Information technology)

Remarks

The college provided a large range of courses to choose from especially for MBA. Coming from a B.tech (CSE) background I had the opportunity to opt for an MBA in the field of Information and technology which at that time only a very few colleges provided. Out of all the colleges shortlisted I chose Lovely Professional University because of the course structure, the beautiful green, and clean campus and the scholarship provided. The only drawback I found in the later stage was the lack of implementing Information Technology subjects practically. The admission process is quite convenient and hassle-free as everything is done online. In short first is the entrance exam provided by the university I.e LPU NEAT/NEST depending upon the course enrolled for, once the entrance exam is cleared the slots are booked for the interview. The results usually come out within 10 days.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

As mentioned earlier coming from an IT background this particular course (MBA-IT) provided the basic fundamentals of management as well as Information Technology, it became easier for me to understand as I was still in touch with my roots as well as learned the ways of marketing and management. For MBA(IT) the student to faculty ratio was 14:1. The highest qualification most of the teachers had was a PhD plus 5 to 10 years of industry experience. The teaching methods were suitable and appropriate, always giving examples of real-life scenarios for a better understanding of the subjects. Exams( practical as well as written) are conducted once in 6 months plus submission of class assignments was mandatory every week. Passing exams are moderately difficult.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

There are many companies that visit help LPU for internship opportunities Microsoft, TCS, Wipro, college Dunia , ITC, Outlook, etc. There are various roles like assistant sales, content writing, digital marketing, BPO Services, etc., stipend ranging from Rs 10000 to Rs 20000 with incentives based on performance. For example, in Outlook a certain set of magazines need to be sold within a month this activity teaches you the basics of sales and teaches you how to convince customers to buy your products. Depending upon the company and the designation, the internship ranges between 3 months to 1 year.

Placement Experience

3.5

Roughly about 80% of students get placed who have allowed for campus placements. Maximum placements are from the engineering department. For MBA more than 500 companies come for recruitment and students are eligible in their 2nd semester onwards for campus placements. There are many companies that come for MBA for example ITC, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Adobe, Moodys, and a lot more. The highest package for MBA was approximate Rs.19 lakh per annum for the pass out batch of 2020 and the average ranges between Rs 4-6 lakh per annum. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

Fees and Financial Aid

Depending upon the course selected the academic fees structure for MBA approximately varies from Rs 1,20,000 to Rs 2,40,000 per annum. The scholarship categories are divided into various options: 1. Based on the entrance exam and interviews (LPU NEST/NEAT) 2.Based on qualification. 3.Based on national level tests(JEE, GMAT, GATE, CAT, etc). 4.Based on Sports, cultural activities, etc. 5.Based on the special category (physical disabilities, defense personals, PhD applicants, bravery awards, etc). There are 3 phases of attaining scholarship, the 1st phase provides maximum scholarship whereas the 2nd and 3rd phase provide lower scholarship. For more details on scholarship and fees, policy/structure one can visit LPU's website. LPU has tie-ups with many banks to provide students with financial assistance like student education loan. The minimum stipend one gets varies from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000.

Campus Life

4

The campus life is really beautiful the infrastructure is well laid out each building is labeled and a map of LPU is at the entrance so that anyone who is new is able to figure out which block to attend to LPU is like a country within a country it has people from all over the world be it teachers or students so the social life is very high and we have activities where we have to interact with everyone. Each department has their own cultural clubs, drama clubs, sports club etc. Every building has its own library and a main library that consists of all books is in BLOCK 36, one can find any book related to any subject and topic in them. The classrooms are big and comfortable having basic AC facilities a projector and a whiteboard. The major fest that takes place in LPU is YOUTHE VIBE, ONE INDIA, ONE WORLD, and EFFICYCLE one LPU also has a Student Division Welfare Association that looks after the student needs clubs and other such activities.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

LPU hostel fees vary from: 1. A/c and non A/c rooms 2. Number of seater i.e 2,3,4 etc Hostels are fairly neat but can be better, the room comes with a bed, cupboard, balcony, a study table, and a chair with attached bathrooms. Each hostel has its own mess that provides all 3 meals plus evening snacks and tea, the meal served is all vegetarian with a variety. The menu is diverse and food quality is good. The registration process for hostels is during the admission process. If one wishes to join the hostel mid-semester can do so depending upon the availability of rooms. LPU increases the price of hostel fees each year and there is no fixed rate for the hostel rooms. Some hostels are well constructed with a spacious environment and some need to improve their standard. Room selection in the first year is as per the choice of the student, 2nd year onwards based on the GPA 2 rounds are conducted for room selection, GPA 8 and above or (Hons)student get first preference, thereafter the rest select.

Remarks:

I completed my BBA from CU and really liked this university because of it's amazing infrastructure and the kind of high level education and practical skills they were providing. It was already decided that I wanted to pursue an MBA program in the long run. I took CAT and was able to score as per CU criteria and I was an alumni of this college only so I was given preference, although the admission was done on merit basis. I also had to pay INR 1000 as the application fee while applying through the official website of the university.

I did my masters from Punjab Institute of Management and Technology and the level of education I got from the college was impeccable. It made me capable enough to successfully start and run and expand my business. I would definitely recommend my college for the sole reason of its precious academics and the supportive faculty. Though the campus life and extracurricular activities are also refreshing and memorable.
