Entrance Preview

I took JEE Mains exam in 2013. I got a decent rank and chose DTU. In Delhi, DTU is considered to be 2nd best college after IIT-DELHI. I opted for Production & Industrial Engineering over environment, bio tech, engg physics and polymer because of my interest in core subjects and machines.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I would say course of my branch is 80% same as of mechanical engineering. Also the course structure gives you technical and practical knowledge which you can utilize during your summer & winter trainings. There are good options of doing research works as well. Professors help you out in this.

Internships Opportunities

When you reach in 2nd year you have options to apply for summer and winter internships. This is a great bonus if you don't have 'approaches' outside the college for doing internships. Companies take test and then select the candidates after personal interviews. So overall procedure is easy and you can land in a company with stipend in your hand. Most companies provide stipend nearly around 20k-40k.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements aren't for all! Almost 95% companies of 180 keeps the percentage criteria and without backlogs. Cut off percentage fall in a range of 50%-75%. Most of the companies have 65% criteria which you can make it in your first 3 years very easily. Every branch has different scenarios for placements. Computer, IT, Software, ECE, MCE have wide range of companies coming for them. Companies like infosys, tcs research, Samsung r&d, shopclues and many more comes for these students. Package range is 7lpa-20lpa.

College Events

4.5

We have number of events which takes place in february. DTU's annual fest 'Engifest' is already known to all other colleges. It's full of excitement, energy and fun. Preparing for the events is a nice experience in your first year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since nothing comes for free apart from air, fees is also a part of college. After converting into Delhi Technological University from Delhi college of engineering in 2009, fee structure has changed dramatically. Fees in 2008 was 24k to 30k per year which now have been increased to whooping 1 lakh per year.

Fees and Financial Aid

College provides Scholarship of rs 10k if you score Department Rank 1 in your branch. Rs 5k if you score Department rank 2. You can also avail loan facilities from SBI branch in the college itself. Few of my students have availed it. For backward and reserved category students there is an SC/ST scholarship provided by the gov't. Just to fill the form and you can enjoy those scholarships.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel food is good and you will feel satisfactory. Since it's not our house kitchen so you will not get taste of your mother's food. Keeping in mind that not all students eat spicy or non spicy food, mess food is in between these two. You get food in morning, afternoon and in night. Apart from these you get snacks at 4.30 pm all working day and at 12.00 am during exams.

Exam Structure

Exams in DTU are much more feasible compared to other colleges. We have odd semester exams taking place in September which are called MID-SEMESTER exams. After this directly END-SEM exams in November mid to December first week. After 5th dec all students are free and do their interns or enjoy the winters. In even semesters mid-sem takes place in march and end-sem in may mid. You get full 2 months vacant i.e.June & July. Labs are attended according to the time table. After first year labs are just fun. You go and finish your practicals in one hour and come out. They are just like recreational activities. In 4th year students don't even go to labs. Just attend 2 or 3 labs and finish all the work in these days. So yeah yo will enjoy lab classes.

Faculty

3.5

DTU have well experienced and renowned faculty. Many are professors and associate professors with assistant professors too. Leaving 2 or 3 teachers in my department, we have very chill out faculty. They all have deep knowledge and professors do have industrial experiences to. Depending upon your subject of interest, you can select a faculty for your research works.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is good. I do not feel very pressure. The course curriculum is design by GGSIPU. There is not spefific reason to choose to this course. It was my childhood dream to become computer engineer. I cant say that the curriculum prepares for real world applications because I am just second year students. The exam conducted on semester basis and its not very difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements at Jamia Millia Islamia are not too high or too low and depend on the branch. Students can apply for placements starting from their 7th semester. Big companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and some startups come to recruit. The average salary offered is between 7 to 8 lakhs per year, but there are not many students who get higher packages. About 40 to 60 percent of students get placed. Many students also work on getting into higher studies or look for jobs outside the campus after they finish their degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course Curriculum for ECE in my clg is quite up to date and comprehensive, covering both core subjects and emerging areas of technology, which was a major factor in my decision to choose this branch. Course has a balanced theory with practical exposure, supported by great faculties guidance and well-maintained lab conditions. Also you get to choose the type of minor or specilaization you want to pursue after 1st year. Exams are conducted regularly after each semester, and levels are same as any engineering college would have.
