Remarks

There are a lot of reasons to join LPU for me but the some of the important reasons were- 1. High and Easy Scholarship- LPU provides the best scholarship as compared to any other private university, I received an annual 80,000 Scholarship in 2016 by appearing in their entrance exam LPU-NEST.2. Eye-Catching Infrastructure- It has an immensely huge campus of more than 650 acres with lush green gardens and Highly equipped classes.3. Actually a University- The best USP of LPU is its diversity which makes it a real university. Students from all across the globe is not just on prospectus, but you will see the same in the campus as well. For example- I had people from Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Japan, Korea and Africa as my hostel mates. LPU gives real exposure for any student which really matters to me.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

If talking about course curriculum, its almost same like other colleges. One thing which is different and which I personally appreciate is that you can opt for subjects as per your hobbies as well like music, acting, fashion design, arts etc along with your main course. Also, From the third year onwards you have to select a minor (A subject in your Branch which you want to specialize in like Data Science, Cyber Security, SAP etc) which is really unique. Most Colleges offer the same in Masters only.Course Structures are pretty much the same. You will have plenty of Exams along with your semesters having weightage in your final results. On an average, You will have three CA(Continuous Assessments 30 marks each) in one semester, One mid semester exam( MCQ Based) and one semester exam (70 marks with both MCQ and Subjective) per subject in a single semester. Not to forget, 75% attendance criteria is a must. Student will be detained even on 74.99%. No medical or certificate is accepted for short attendance. Its the most serious point to be considered.Faculties are a mix I would say, I have been taught by Ex-IItians, Oxford Graduates and also Fresher Teachers as well. If talking in facts, 100% of the teachers are M.tech, 60-70% are PHD pursuing, and 20-30% are PHD Holders.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Almost 50 companies came to either offer one year or 6 months internship in B.tech CSE in our batch. Student can also apply for offline internships but he have to approve the same from the university before joining it.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement services I felt were really nice. The companies offer all the job profiles which are there in the industry. For B.tech CSE/ CSE (Honors)/IT, the placements are best.1. B.tech Students have to register for placements after their 2nd year ends.2. One-time Placement fees of INR 10,000/- is mandatory. This includes all the drives fees and placement preparation classes arranged for the students for whole two years.3. The students start appearing for placement drives from the 6th semester onwards. A lot of companies offer placement from the 6th semester only. The entire remaining course of those students is waived off.4. Minimum Package for B.tech CSE is 2.40 LPA and Highest package goes till 18-20 LPA.5. Average package range at which majority of the students are selected is 3.60 LPA- 4.5 LPA.6. The student has to make sure he clears all his failed subjects till 6th semester or else he/she will not be allowed to appear in placements.7. Mostly companies give the offer to join after the 8th semester exams. A very less takes the students before their degree.

College Events

Lpu is unarguably the most happening campus in India. I am not exaggerating about it, but have experienced it live. All you have to do is to step out of the hostel/class room and you won't feel lonely ever. Facilities provided are overwhelming- 1. Uni-Center (Mall inside the campus operational from morning 9 am to 10pm)2. Gymnasium (There are university gyms and also private gym centers inside the campus anyone you can opt for. Both services are paid. University Gym is 1000/- per month and private gym is 2800/- per month.3. Sports- Every Sport is available including- Cricket, Football, Swimming(Olympic Size pool inside campus, Archery, Hockey, Baseball, Rugby, Shooting (Shooting range inside campus), and all other sports. (Kits you may get issued from the university subject to availability and per sem fees to enroll in any sport is around 3000 INR).4. Library- There are libraries in all the major departments, apart from that LPU has a Central Library which has 3 floors of books filled in racks. A normal student can get a book issued for seven days and honors students can have the book for 2 weeks. Fine for overdue is INR 10/- per day.5. Clubs- There is a separate 5 floored building named as Division of Student Welfare dedicated for Cultural and Social Activities for students. You can be part of n number of clubs free of cost. Apart from that LPU has a battalion headquarter of NCC inside the campus and NSS branch as well. You can also open your own student organization after first year where you can organize any activity of your choice for other students.6. Events- At any moment, LPU is hosting at least 10 events inside the campus at different locations. Events in every category are organized in LPU regularly. You will find your academics too much occupied as you can not witness every event due to your classes.7. Trips/Tours/Excursions- Lpu does not takes the students to any trips on the behalf of the university. However, There are numerous companies and societies inside the campus who arrange and take students to different trips all over India(for which you have to pay).8. Full Ragging-Free Campus. I haven't witnessed a single case of ragging in my four years of life at LPU.Full Marks on Campus Life

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee of LPU B.tech goes in various structures as well as the scholarships. I will explain these in a layman's language.B.Tech CSE has a basic fee of 120,000 INR per sem in batch 2021, But not to worry as you can avail scholarship upto 80,000 (same I received) by appearing in LPU-NEST which is not a tough exam. There is no fee hike in academics. If You have taken admission in 100,000 per semester, than you will pay the same every semester till you complete your engineering. Yes, but hostel fee increases every year almost 3-4k.Apart from this fees, 1500 INR per sem is taken extra as examination fees.Campus Placements and job opportunities for CSE/IT are the highest. Package ranges from 2.4 LPA to 20LPA. Depends on your potential. Average package 3.6 LPA-5.4LPA.But you have to consider this fact that you will be allowed to sit in any placement drive if your subjects are clear and you are not failed in any subjects till 3rd year. You also have to pay a placement services One time fee of 10,000 INR after your second year only then you can avail placement services.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

There are various types of accommodation you can avail inside and outside the campus. However, I will recommend you to opt for University accommodation for at least first year. Then you can decide whether to live inside or outside.1. There are 8 Boys Hostels and 6 Girls Hostels in total.2. No boy can enter to other hostel than his own. There is biometric(Fingerprint) entry at each hostel. Its a bit different for girls. For girls residing in Hostel 1,2,3 and 4 they can move inside from one hostel to other a they share the same compound. Girls in hostel 5 and 6 can roam into these two hostels only.3. For girls there is a hostel time which has to be followed very strictly. In summers, its 7:20 PM and in winters its 6:00 PM. If a girl violates this time even for a single minute, severe action is taken (Suspension for 2-3 days).4. Security is too much inside the campus which can irritate you a lot of time.5. The campus is totally vegetarian. you cannot cook/ bring/order non-veg food (not even eggs) inside hostel or campus.6. For boys, there is a non-vegetarian restaurant recently opened inside the campus. But you can only eat the non-veg food there, You are not allowed to take the food to your room.7. Mess food was fine to me. You won't feel the food homely honestly, but you won't even get sick. Its not that bad. I will rate 7 out of 10 for the food.8. Mess fees is not included in hostel fees. You have the option not to take mess. Other options are, Hostel Canteen, Food Joints outside hostel but inside campus (INR 80 per meal). Mess fees is around INR 32000 per year. 9. Laundry fees is also not included in your hostel fees. Its almost INR 4000 per year. There are also certain rules for laundry. You can submit your clothes two days per week (The days will be told to you). Also you can give only 10 clothes in a single submission.10. Hostel rooms condition is average. Not good not bad. You will be provided a single seater bed( The one without storage box), One almirah, One table and one chair. You have to arrange all the other amenities by yourself (Including the mattress).11. Fees of hostel rooms varies. You can opt for dormatories with shared bathrooms ranging INR 35000-45000, The rooms come in AC and Cooler option. The sharing varies from 6/5/4/3/2/1 seater rooms. The Cheapest room is 6 seater Non-AC(Cooler) which costs INR 55000 annually and Highest is 1 seater AC room costing INR 140,000 per year. You can check all the prices on www.lpu.in

Admission

There is no GD/PI for any undergraduate program. There are PIs for M.tech and MBA courses which are easy as well. But for B.tech the eligibility criteria is easy-1. At least 60% in Class 12th (Overall) having Physics, Maths and English as subjects from any board.2. There is no maximum seats barrier to any branch. You will get the branch you like easily. 3. Documents needed are- Transfer Certificate from School/Character Certificate/Migration Certificate (Any one of these) and Marksheets of 10th and 12th, One Aadhar Card.

The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As i have opted the course B.Pharmacy! I rate the course as optimal, neither too bad nor too good, its medium! Now comes on teaching method, some teachers are really well and good and few are those who does not teaches but only writing writing, thats it, they will not explain at all! And one thing they should change is that All Courses except B.Pharmacy in Chandigarh University have the criteria to pass the student even below the 40% only or the half of the highest number scored by the topper in the class, and for Bpharmacy its minimum requirement to pass the exam is 50%, Oh My God! This needs to be changed, Now every year, in Bpharmacy, the overall 80% students are getting Compartments (Back/Fail) in the subjects, but the University is not understanding it all. So this should be changed as earlier!
