Remarks

I had applied for JEE Mains, Aligarh Muslim University, and Lovely Professional University. My JEE Mains score was 86.2 percentile so I couldn't make the cutoff. Then my next choice was AMU. Now, I proposed a concept that "A good decent college is important but I should get in the program I like otherwise it doesn't matter how good college is if the subject is not my area of interest". In AMU B.Tech entrance result they offered me Petrochemical and I moved on to LPU to get admission in CSE. There is no entrance exam just LPUNest, so I applied for LPUNest in May so the best scholarship I could get was 40% and I scored 132 and got 40% scholarship from LPU and took Admission in CSE branch. My Total Fee is 90,000 per sem but due to 40% scholarship, my fee cut down to 54,000 per sem. For B.Tech CSE, PCM marks should be more than 70% and you will get a scholarship if you scored 85%, 90%, or more than 90% in 12th. You will be contacted by a counselor who will help you go through the counseling.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

LPU doesn't take admission on smartness. They have this kind of curriculum that if followed, anyone can get placement in the whole region. I'm in CSE as I like maths and problem-solving. In my class 72 and my batch of CSE+IT 4232 students are enrolled and in University more than 30000 students are enrolled. More than 4000 Teaching and Non-teaching staff are there. Faculties are either Master's graduates with 3 years experience or pursuing PhD with 2-3 year experience or PhD with more than 8 years of experience. I liked labs but their lab modules are not that good(physics and ECE lab only). The programming Faculty and their labs are the best. Each teacher has Instruction Plan to follow for day-to-day learning. There are 3 Continuous Assessments, 1 Mid Term Exam, and 1 End Term Exam. 2 CA of 30 marks will be taken before MTE and 1 after but only the average of the best 2 will be count. MTE will be in the 8th week and ETE will be in the 17th week. Passing is easy if the internals is good but being 9 or 10 pointers is not easy.

Internships Opportunities

4

I just passed my 4th sem so I'm not eligible for internships that our University provides but I could signup for the Campus Ambassador Program of College Dunia through Internshala. The stipend would be performance-based at College Dunia's CA program. LPU runs a program called the one-year internship program which is not even allowed in some Universities. In this program, LPU asks those companies to give one-year internships to the placed students and let the placed student spend their last year, of course, doing internships at that company. One of my seniors got the highest stipend in LPU i.e. Rs.80,000 per month. I have done an unpaid remote internship experience at JPMorgan Chase & Co. where I had to do 3 tasks. The first task was to update the interface with a stoke price data feed using python, the second was to use and give feedback about JPMorgan Chase frameworks and tools and the last was to display data visually to traders.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement Division is the most hard-working division here. After completing the 5th sem students can apply for campus placements. Before starting of 5th sem students are asked to choose either govt. job or higher study or corporate job as if anyone chooses other than a corporate job, no placement fees would be taken but for a corporate job, placement fees would be charged. I paid Rs12000 and in the 5th sem, my placement preparation classes will begin and I will be trained in order to get placed. Placement records are good as of April 2021, around 820 companies came and 350 of them offered 5LPA - 35LPA. 7200+ offers were generated. LPU does not allow to sit in placement drives after gatting placed in one company. The highest package from campus placement of all time is 42LPA in 2020 but this year it is 35LPA. The average package is 7+LPA. But companies like Cognizant hired 3300 students, the average package for that is around 3-4LPA. Once a student is eligible for placements nothing can stop him to get placed but him.

Fees and Financial Aid

As I was LPUNest qualified in category 1, I got 40% scholarship and fees per sem at that time was 90K so I pay 54K per sem but fees have been hiked and now 120K per sem is for B.Tech, Hostel Fees is 55K per annum and 30K for Mess four time meal. LPU organizes a scholarship test i.e. LPUNest, there are 3 categories of passing students i.e. Category 1, 2, and 3. As of merit list for category 1 students, 50% scholarship if attempted in or before April then decrease by 10% every following month similarly in category 2 and 3, 40% and 30% respectively, decreases by 10% every month. Before admission, every financial detail and scholarship detail will be mentioned by the counselor. There is no Installment system but If you've paid more than half the fee before classes you can start study but you have to pay the rest of the fee before exams as you will not be allowed to sit there. There are jobs on campus like Peer Tutor, Asst. Technician, Data entry, etc. For 500+ students LPU disbursed 600k INR as a stipend.

Campus Life

4.5

How Life at Campus would be when your campus spread more than 600 Acre, Hospital, Mall, 4 Foodcourt with around 10-20 Kiosk each, Playground, Indoor Stadium, 3 Gyms(Uni-GYM and 2 private), 250+ student clubs, and smart classrooms with projectors and ACs. Fest will start on very first week and you couldn't count how many concerts and fest you have attended or organized at the end of graduation. Famous fests are YouthVibe, OneWorld, and Coke Studios. Guru Randhawa's concerts were the best I've enjoyed. So many celebrities are Invited every year and students get to see and learn from them. The library is well managed as you can feel the calmness and coolness of AC, every book I looked for can be found at the library. State-level Basketball and Wrestling matches and Efficycle mega competition held in LPU with the participation of 50+ colleges and IITs. There are 250+ student organizations under the aegis of DSA, you can apply to be a member and just learn new things with your club and get experienced.

Hostel Facilities

4

LPU has 8 boys hostels, 1 apartment, and around 4 or 5 girls hostels. My hostel accommodation was around for 3K students. There are options like 1 seater AC (Rs.128K) or cooler (Rs.108K) but mine was 4 seater with bathroom and toilet (with basin) inside the room and a balcony with beautiful greenery in the fields for this room I paid Rs.55K but now it's Rs.58K per annum. Mess is optional but I opted it and paid Rs.30K for a year, Mess has 4 meal plans (only veg) and every day different food and specials for those fryums and salad. The mess has a buffet system serving rice, pulses, chapati, sabzi, salad or fryums, and sweet dish but it was admirable that they manage to make new meals every day. Registration can be done with an initial payment of Rs.10K but the rest of the payment should be done before accommodation. The hostel also has an open gym but is more like machines for calisthenics. The main gate of each hostel has a turnstile gate with an ID card and fingerprint scanner as the only residents of that hostel can enter.

Other Applied Colleges

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
