Remarks

The student life is good in AU and the experience, exposure is worth for a lifetime. Thanks to the management for making it so.

Entrance Preview

I dint take any entrance exam. The cutoff was calculated from XII standard marks. I had scored 1133 out of 1200 and my cut off worked out to 195.5. Anna University (Main campus) is considered as one of the best colleges in Tamilnadu and a seat in this college was an aim for the students to achieve in 2008

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum provided a detailed academic overview on textiles & basic engineering. The machines and the theories describe mostly outdated technology though it is necessary for a student to learn history. It would be great of the curriculum has more of practical approach (more internships, industrial collaborative topics).

Internships Opportunities

Our college curriculum has an internship program (more of an implant training) which is a mandate in 5th semester. It is not supported by stipend. Since textile technology is a manufacturing oriented specialization, we had implant training in a handful of industries which gave a wide exposure and enriched experiences.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placement opportunities for Anna University is quite good and we receive many top companies in each branch. For textile technology, the number of core companies may be limited but yet it should be noted that the top companies do prefer Anna university (past - SRF, Clariant, Dyestar, Intimate Fashions, Loyal, Celebrity fashions and more). It would be great if the branch increases its brand value by increasing its communication with the industry.

College Events

4.5

Anna University is best known for its technical and cultural events. Since it has three campuses and 38+ departments, there are a lot technical symposiums and cultural events. The cultural events like Techofes, Sampradha gives enjoyable memories and the technical events like Kurukshetra provides a platform to enrich the learning.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is simple and the college is one of the least expensive colleges. The semester fees would be 8000+ for odd semesters and 11000+ for even semesters based on the courses. The hostel fee would be 11000+ for an year and mess fee comes around 800+ every month. Overall the expenses for four years would not exceed 1.5 lakh.

Fees and Financial Aid

Ana University has a lot of scholarship opportunities and educational loans can be easily obtained. I had availed an educational loan in Indian Bank using the fee challans of every semester.

Campus Life

4.5

AU has a large library and computer lab. This library is one of the best in TN and it has thousands of books. Sports is highly encouraged and the infrastructure for the same can be rated as best. It has a very big stadium and courts for all the games

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facilities during our period was not good enough to be shared and the recent students say that their hostels has been improved and the infrastructure is good. Food can be rated as good in hostels ( 5 out of 10).

Exam Structure

Exams and the evaluation were pretty tough which demanded a hard preparation. The lab hours are spread out and provides good experience.

Faculty

4

The faculty is one the best in Anna University. There are subject matter experts in each topic to guide the students when ever required. Even though the extra curricular activities are not encouraged much, the expertise of the faculty is the reason that the department has a strong technical hold among st their competitors.

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements are generally decent, with students becoming eligible from the final year. Several companies visit for recruitment, offering roles in technical and non-technical fields. Packages vary by company, and placement opportunities depend on skills and performance. Many students secure jobs, while others pursue higher studies or competitive exams.
