Remarks

I have applied for admissions in Thiagarajar College of Engineering(TCE) and Velammal College of Engineering and Technology(VCET) through the management quota. I hoped for a Computer Science course in TCE. But I got a call from that college for an available seat in the IT department, in the management quota. During that time, I applied for counselling. I got placed in CSE, VCET through counselling. Unfortunately, I didn't get a computer science course in TCE. Yet, I had a place for IT in TCE, in the management quota. Being interested in computer science, I went with VCET.

Course Curriculum Overview

From a very young age, I was interested in computing and coding. During my 12th summer holidays, I have learnt C and Java. Such coding knowledge made me choose computer science engineering. The faculties in my college are very responsible and do their duties very well. There are about 60-70 students in my section(B). In VCET, there are two sections for CSE students. Both the sections have a population of about 60-70 students each. VCET faculties are very caring that if a student doesn't understand a concept, the teacher would put his/her utmost effort to make him/her understand before going to the next topic. Internal tests and model exams will be regularly conducted in VCET for each semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am currently pursuing 2nd year in VCET. The management provides all the required materials for study, like notes, records, engineering graphics and drawing materials, coat and a lot more. They also provide a bundle of A4 sheet each year. Though I joined VCET through Govt quota, the fees seem to be a bit high.

Campus Life

For the past 3 years, there is no cultural fest in VCET. But they come up with some small activities for students which they find it interested to solve. VCET library is regularly maintained by corresponding staffs. The library section is maintained very well in VCET. Also, the classrooms are very wide enough for us to walk. It is large enough for 70-80 students to occupy it. VCET conducts a sports day once per year. Many students participate in various competitions like march past, running race, football and many more. They also award the winners with certificate and medals. There is an NCC group in VCET. Unfortunately, there are not much social groups in VCET.

Here there is no gender separation like boys and girls should be seperate and stuff like that.
It is a autonomous college so courses are changing regularly with the shift in education
Here we have relative grading system therefore there is no ranking and easy to get good grades

Dislikes

We have to pay yearly fees not semester wise it difficult for low income earning families
Money is collected from students for all events happening in the college.
There is a rush for collection of fees at the start of each year and unpaid students might face absent issues

Placement Experience:

Campus placements are moderate but i don't know much about other courses but for civil engineering the average placed ctc is 3 lakh per annum one or two students got higer package but most of the students got lower package as a fresher.

Placement Experience:

From 5 th semester onwards students are eligible for campus placements. Lots of companies. The highest package is 26 lakhs and the average package is 1.5 lakhs. 98% of students get placed. Doing my best in a career as an entrepreneur.

If the applicant had above 60% in JEE and other national competitive exams, admission is provided with scholarship. Mechanical, civil,eee courses are offered easily with the cut off of above 120 and management quota has no donation.For ece,cse,aids,It courses the admission cut off is 175 and management quota with donation of over 3.5lakhs.
