Remarks

I belong to the 2020 batch. I had applied to several other universities' entrance exams but they all were canceled due to the outbreak of the pandemic, whereas lovely professional university(LPU) conducted their entrance test online. so I gave the test and passed with scholarship eligibility of 40%. One can get up to 50% scholarship based on their marks in the LPUNEST exam. I accepted the offer. There are certain quotas viz sports scholarships, amputee, Defence background, etc. Then the admission process is super easy. At the time of counseling, you need to pay the admission booking amount of 10,000 which is fully refundable. Once you book your seat, you will be getting further instructions on the registered mails and phone numbers.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I come from an electronics background so I decided to opt for ECE (Electronics and Communication Engg). In the current situation, classes are going on remotely i.e online. So each course is taught by the professor to approx 50 students on an online platform that is designed in-house. The faculties are highly qualified, most of them are Ph.D., polite and helpful, and cheerful. Doubts are positively entertained. There are 4 CAs (class assessments), one midterm and end-term exams, with 2 CAs before midterm and 2 CAs after it. The exams are of average difficulty if you study-you pass type. Provision of reappearing is provided to students.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Students can apply for internships from the 5th semister. Various internship opportunities are provided by universities for students. you can apply externally too. Concession is given to the interns and placed candidates. Students are also given projects which are counted in the credits and join their resume.

Placement Experience

4

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th sem. All the details and stats of placements are available on the official website of lpu i.e www.lpu.in . students are provided internship opportunities from the 3rd year onwards where the company may give them an offer to continue the contract.

Fees and Financial Aid

Per semister, tuition fees of B.Tech are 980000rs, in which certain scholarships are provided to students ranging from 20% to 100%. Entrance exam LPUNEST has a relative marking system in which 4 categories are made providing 50,40,30 and 20% scholarships. Additional achievements may also owe you a scholarship. I secured a 2nd category scholarship of 40% which reduced my fees to 58000rs per sem. Interuniversity jobs are available like working in the call center which provides additional financial assistance to the student. [HOSTEL charge is different from tuition fees.]

Campus Life

5

LPU has a happening campus. Various events are constantly going on campus. They include celebrity concerts, music fests, etc. The campus has a huge 6 story library with state-of-the-art infrastructure. It has more than 1.5 lac books belonging to all domains, digital books are also available. Classes are equipped with projectors and boards. LPU is well known for its sports complex. It has huge playgrounds, 35+batminton courts, tennis and basketball courts, archery, rifle shooting, boxing and wrestling ring, and all sports facility. LPU has an Olympic size swimming pool which is the largest among any other university. There are numerous student clubs from all domains which provide many opportunities to students.

Hostel Facilities

3

Campus has a wide range of accomodation options from dormitory to AC apartments so facilityes provided in each type are different. I stay in std 4 seater non AC where we are provided with all basic facilities like a bed, chair, table, switch points and toilet -bathroom for each room (it depedns on the type of hostel you choose). the mess is quiet good with all types of cuisines available to opt for but the price changes accordingly. Food quility is quiet decent and medium spicy. So for booking of Hostel, you can opt it at the time of admission by paying a small portion of amount and booking your choce and bed. The hostel is quiet affordable and the mess serve preety average meal.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
